Funniest looking Buck knife?

I was at a Wal-mart in the city that I don't frequent, just to check the knife cabinet to see if there was anything interesting. On the shelf were 2 on clearance and your cheapo no-name brands. On clearance was a Kershaw and a Buck in there box's with tags that read something like BUCK Knife, so I found someone to open the cabinet so I could see what was in the box's, I pick up the Buck box (its big enough for a vantage) and it feels light for its size. I slide the knife out of one side while trying to read the tag on the other. Well... this falls into my hand.

What is this? I was shocked. The box said Buck Adrenaline, I was hoping for a 112, 55 or an old Diamondwood Vantage. I had to open it and examine closely to ensure it was a Buck and wasn't something else placed in the wrong box. Buck is known for there no nonsense, practical designs, who thought this up? for $48 on clearance for $30 I passed, the Kershaw box had a plain edged Storm in it for $10, that I couldn't say no to. Honestly, if it was on for a real clearance price I probably would have picked up the Buck, I would just deny it later. So, what do you think is the funniest/worst looking Buck knife?

If there was a $30 Buck and a $10 Kershaw, I would have taken the Buck...As a matter of fact, I would have taken the Buck over 3 Kershaws.

Wait one second, I am a hardcore Buck guy, a 110 was my first knife and one still regulars in my EDC, in fact I have a rule that in my EDC there has to be at least one Buck every day. Now, I don't do serrated knives unless it is not available without and I really have my heart set on it, so this thing was out before it got a chance. The Kershaw was on clearance for $10.00 and it was a mid size folder with a plain blade, and I didn't have a Kershaw yet.

C_t_A, I agree with you. I'd have gone for the Kershaw over the imported Buck Adrenaline. That Buck just doesn't fit my style at any price. Neither does the Kershaw Storm really, but if it had been a Leek I'd have been all over it without hesitation.

Well, here's my vote for the funniest/worst looking Buck knife. The Quest 430. This is a very uncomfortable knife to hold and very thin, just a hair shy of 5/16". With plastic sides the blade/handle junction is not very stiff. The backlock is far forward giving little leverage for closing the blade on an already awkward to hold knife. I guess most people already know how I feel about half serrated edges on small blades..... ;o( Came to me new in the box out of an antique shop for $15 tax included. The date code on this one is 1999. I've already had $15 worth of enjoyment making fun of it. (sorry Buck)

HA! The Quest would be my vote as well. I am proud to say I own 2! My son, 20, was 6 when he bought me one out of his own $$ from a buddy who ran a gun shop at the time. It was a Father's Day present. Somehow I thought I'd lost it a few years later so I mail ordered another, only to find the first later on down the line.

Yeah, it's an ugly duckling for sure but still holds GREAT sentimental value for me. Fairly easy to carry in the pants pocket as well.

I didnt realize wally had the adrenalines-yeah would have passed but also would have passed on the kershaw. I thought for sure when I started reading the thread, you would be talking about the Odessy which to me is "odd ta see":p

For whatever reason, I think the Bravo is the goofiest even though its not all the different from the Csar and Alphas which I love.

How interesting,,, My Adrenalin TI has ATS 34 (Bos logo) and is USA made. I would have grabbed the $30 one in a heartbeat if it was like this one.

I think that little Metro is the funniest looking of the Bucks.

The Ti's (178's) were made in the USA, but it appears that the one in the Op's link is the 177BKXSP model. When Buck started showing an American flag next to the pictures in the 2007 catalog, the 177 doesn't have one. That's why I said that they are imports, I've actually never seen one.

Thank you all for your replies and getting this thread back on track. I will admit, if the buck had been $10 I might have gotten both, even imported and serrated I struggle to say no to a Buck knife on clearance. I didnt look very close, if the Buck was ATS 34 with a BOS logo I should have grabbed it up, but I doubt it was. The Kershaw I bought was date stamped Nov 06, its been there a while.

Are you saying that you do not like this one?

I have found this to be a usefull style of knife, at times. Even if it is made across the big water. HL

We are not going to turn this into a domestic/imported debate thread but lets have a look at it...
1. Half serrated, very useful for someone who cant sharpen, not for me.
2. What is with the shark fin on the back of the blade?
3. "Ive got an idea, lets make the finger grooves look like giant serrations".
4. "If we make the handle out of an alloy and stone wash it, I bet it will fit right in at the flea market"
5. Its clearance price is close to the regular price of a 110.

5 strikes, thats enough for me.

Lets see some pics of these models guys.

All that I am saying is they are a nice knife to use, if you like the design. I know that every design is not going to appeal to everybody, but it is not a bad design. Regaurdless of where it is made. HL

I agree! The Odessy along with the Adrenaline and others like it just don't have any appeal to me. But some like these designs and go for them. DM
