i've just started getting into doing file work and searched the archives for any info on the subject. that led me to an article on knifeart.com . i liked the article and the text was very clear. but in the diagram that shows the the different patterns they all seem really fuzzy. i'm using a pretty decent computer so i guess thats not it. anybody know where i could find a similar article with a more clear picture. thanks to anyone that can help. chris
ps sorry i forgot to mention that i did see bruce evans tutorials on filework and loved them. thanks bruce. my first file job came out great. beginers luck i guess. (the vine)

So a search for Bruce Evans on the shop talk, or search for tutorials. Bruce has many tutorials on his page, including the best filework tutorial I have ever found.

Glad you could use my tutorials. The ones that you are talking about are the only other ones that I know of and I had the same problem that you have with them.Which pattern are you trying to do ,maybe I can help out with some quick pictures on a scrap piece for you.

Bruce, I just looked at your website. Every now and then I get a good dose of reality and realize how much of an amature I am. Wonderful website, amazing work and great articals. Thank you

I've used Bruce's tutorials too and they are excellent. The only suggestion I have for improvement is changing the dark blue lettering on the opening page to something lighter. Dark blue lettering on a black background is hard to see on my computer.

Bruce's file tutorial got me started on file work. Now I'm also looking around for pictures of other filework for inspiration. Maybe a few forumites could post pictures of their more creative filework efforts?

Carl

Sorry about the blue lettering on the page but Homesteads program does it and I can't change it when I make the text a link.I will put a colored box behind each of the links or maybe a big box like on my homepage.
