I'd love to see a Sprint run of G-10 Rookies with VG-10 plain edge blades. Wouldn't care what color the G-10 is. I'd buy a few regardless.

Anyone else interested?

Count me in!

By any chance is this post inspired by the G-10 Rookie that sold for $126 on ebay the other day?

If there was a sprint run then I could quit placing losing bids on these things.

Me too. I asked for a blue FRN rookie a few times, but later found out it wouldn't likely happen because setting up FRN molds costs more than a sprint run of steel or g10 (don't think an FRN rookie mold exists).

G10 rookie, VG10, plain edge. How about that bright blue G10 the Yojimbo has?

Yes

Me too! I've lost my fair share of bids on G-10 plain edges. Hopefully that won't matter after the new run is released. :D A man can dream.

Definitely count me in!!!

My SS Rookie with SE was the first Spyderco I ever bought! It's what got me into collecting knives!!!

I'd definitely buy a few PE G-10 Rookies!!!!

i'd be in for atleast 2..

I should add a second vote for myself as well because I would have to buy one for safe keeping and one to play with.

I've got two Rookies, one in G-10 and one SS, both in ATS-55. I like them quite a lot, but I don't carry them anymore. I seem to prefer leaf-shaped blades and especially flat grinds nowadays.

So I don't think I'd be interested. With a flat grind, however, I reckon I'd have to get a couple or so ... :D

For the record, I like flat grinds too. I would go for either one on this knife, maybe even with a preference for a flat grind. But the Rookie's blade shape is good and I wouldn't be put off either way.

Trust me, I'd prefer a full flat grind too but if they (the honorable Japanese manufacturer) still have the original tooling and jigs I'd settle for the original grind. Anything that would keep costs down, speed up the pilot run and just in general make it more likely to get the project off the ground sounds good to me. All I'd like to see is G-10 & VG-10. I'd buy a few. Then I would probably end up getting a couple for my brother and a friend. Then maybe one for my Mom.

Now that I think about it, I'd definitely get one for my Mom. She has to be getting tired of her manual Benchmade Mel Pardue liner lock by now.

Carl, there was a rookie with FRN scales.
There was no FRN Rookie made AFAIK, but...
Could it be the "K" model you're talking about? It's like a Pro Grip with a Delica blade.

I definitely saw one at my local dealer but they sold out of them about 3 years ago. It was black FRN with SE. I know what a Rookie looks like as i have on in S/S.

I don't know, maybe this was handled like the Matriarch, which is a Civilian with FRN scales that was developed as a cheaper version for the SA market.

Anyone from Spyderco have any inputs here?

There was never a FRN rookie. The Matriarch is similar to the civie but not the same knife. The differences being nore than just handle make up.

Well, I still haven't scored a PE G-10 Rookie yet. They are elusive little beasts.

Here's to a Sprint Run of Rookie's with a PE VG-10 blade and a handle made of Gray G-10 and a single steel liner with a low reflective satin bead blasted clip. :D

May be my only hope to own a G-10 Rookie.
