I want to make a saya for a kitchen knife i'm doing in g-10 to match the scales. Super glue or epoxy to bond the saya layers? I'm thinking epoxy.

epoxy for sure...i did not have success with superglue.

i think you should go with epoxy. the superglue will be too fast to check your alignment several times. ( unless you are using a few guide pins).

Use guide pins (2 or 3) even with the epoxy. Unless the work surface is perfectly flat and level the top piece will usually slide on the bottom piece until the epoxy has started to kick. Trust me on this because I speak from experience. Tim

really? G-10 is softer than steel, how would it scratch it? If it's a problem, I'll coat the inside with a rubber spray.

It's made of fiberglass. Glass is hard stuff. ;)

All sorts of things will scratch and scuff steel, just think about your scotchbrite belts for putting a nice scratch pattern on the steel.

Anyway, sounds like a neat idea to me. And I'd assume it'd be fine as long as the inside and the opening is thoroughly finished smooth and polished.

Id check out, or even contact haburn knives, hes been doing carbon fiber sayas with leather lining lately, got to see one in person recently and wow....

G10 is glass fiber and epoxy, right? That makes the choice of adhesive pretty easy.
