In the past week, here's what I've acquired:
**Spec Ops THE Wallet
**Buck Metro
**Leatherman Squirt P4

And here's the reviews:

The Spec Ops wallet is definately a quality piece. My first impression, as is everybodies is that this thing is freakin big. But, I found after 3 days of carry, it's incredibly comfortable in my back pocket (it also fits in most of my back pockets and cargo pockets). On my old cordura wallet, the sides were starting to fray after only 6 months of carry. I don't see this happening on THE Wallet at all.

I picked up the Buck Metro at REI for about 18 bucks which may seem like a real rip off but I figured at 10 bucks on the net plus 6 for UPS, it didn't seem too bad. The bottle opener fits on all of the beers in my fridge, and it fits your hand comfortably during use. The blade is some unknown steel (probably 440?) and is held open by a liner lock. At first I was dissapointed that the blade wasn't a slipjoint, and liner locks this small usually dissapoint. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this little guy had no bladeplay and passed a light spine whack. I used the blade to open my Squirt and it performed well and showed how sharp it really was.

Last but not least, I bought the Leatherman Squirt. I have been waiting for this baby for a long time. At first I saw them at REI and I had my credit card out...until I saw that they were 40 bucks:barf: :( So, I waited...until I found them at Target for 30!!! :D :D First off, I wanted to say that the Squirt is very tiny and if you have larger hands, it isn't comfortable. The other thing I didn't like is that, as mentioned by others, the springs holding the tools are pretty weak feeling and close rather easily. Overall, the Squirt is a neat gadget, but for the size, I'd recommend the Mini Tool or if you still want smaller, the SOG Crossgrip.

Thanks for posting. Aren't gadgets the best!! I bought a T.H.E Wallet two weeks ago after reading a thread here and I love it. I guess my only complaint is that it's so wide that sometimes it takes two hands to wrangle it out of my back pocket and with jeans it sticks out the top a little.

Also, thanks for the heads up on the Squirt springs. I think that I will stick with my Micra for now.

Jazzman,

I KNEW you'd like "T.H.E. Wallet"...It has some really well-thought-out features, like the dual ID windows, and the two zippered compartments.:).

Also, rather than the Leatherman Squirt, you SHOULD have bought either the SOG Pocket PowerPlier or the smaller SOG CrossGrip (or Crosscut)...Either is ALOT better than the Leatherman, (at least in my not-so-humble opinion!).:).

I'm still waiting on my latest gadgets...:(

Almost everything I wanted was out of stock!

Hopefully I'll have them this week! :D

Dann,
I have a Crossgrip but I've used the heck out of it and I probably need a new one. The pocket powerplier looks neat though. I think that it may be my next gadgety purchase.

Jazzman,

Yah, I'm looking to sell one of my REKAT folders to buy (or trade for) a SOG CrossGrip AND a CrossCut...Those are both pretty cool little multi-tools. The SOG Pocket PowerPlier is a nice, handy size.

Do you know how the Squirt compares to the Micra? I own a Micra, and have been pretty happy with it, mostly having used the scissors. However, I've wanted to pick up a Squirt S4 since I first saw them, but I'll stick to the Micra only if they don't seem so good.

I don't have the S4 but it looks very similar to the Micra with just a few different tools. Personally, I think that the S4 is redundant featuring the popularity of the Micra, but that's just my opinion. I also don't understand why the Squirts are so much more expensive than the Micra. I guess it's a more complex tool to make due to the steel interframe and the scales, etc. IMO, simpler is better and I would stick with the Micra. The size difference is minute and the Micra seems just as stout.

The main reason behind the Squirt series, I think, is to go after those who would buy the Juice line of multitools, rather then Micra and its big brothers, ie- Supertool 200, Pulse, etc. More colorful, and maybe a little easier to access the tools, etc.

Thanks Maurice. Oddly enough, it takes and holds an edge pretty decently.
