Hey guys ,sorry if this seems to be little of topic, but my father in law is leaving for FL tommoro morning and has a question....long sentence huh.
K here it goes.He wants to buy a adapter for his gps3.The gps3 takes 4 AA batteries that = 6 volts. Now we all know cars are 12 volts. So his question is....Is there something in the gps unit that steps the voltage down to 6 volts? The adapter he was looking at was for a gps2 not a gps3.We all know there the same thing except for the internal components. He also said that the one he was looking at had no step down thingy on the wire.HOPE THIS MAKES SENCE TO YOU ALL.It looked like your average radar detector wire, except it had the plug for the GPS unit.
Thanks...im done rambling now.
take care

Life is like a box of chocolates, never know what your gona git!

According to the Garmin web site at http://www.garmin.com the GPS3 takes from 10 to 32 volts. The GPS2 will take from 10 to 36 volts, so if the connector on the cable fits the GPS3 then it should be fine. The GPS unit has an internal regulator that takes it down to whatever it wants.
