Recently I had some spare cash so I went to Lee Valley(Saskatoon) with the intention of buying the hatchet(95.00) & the forest axe(109.00).When the clerk brought them to me(you fill out a order form & they bring the items to you from the warehouse in back),I was surprised to see the broad axe(259.00) brought in place of the forest axe,& the mini(139.00) brought in place of the hatchet.Someone had screwed up & all four were numbered & priced wrong.I could have walked out with these other axes valued at 398.00 for the price of the hatchet & forest axe(204.00 for both),getting them for 194.00 less than their retail price. This I could not do.Upon informing the clerk of the problem, she was understandably horrified & thanked me profusely.Unfortunately, it turns out that the forest axe & hatchet were out of stock so it was then my turn to be horrified. So,I saved 204.00 that day & Lee Valley saved 194.00,but it was a better day for them than I,as I went home empty handed.

seems like knife- and weapons-oriented folks are like this more than most.

brother cyc' - if you ever need a vectorized hawk or tool, remind us of this story so we can give ya what we call the Shameless Christian Discount.

Bravo Zulu!

You did the right thing. I wonder how many others would have. Unfortunately you'll have to wait 'til your dead to get your reward in Heaven! ;)

CitizenQ,I'm not sure about getting to Heaven,as I'm definitely not a saint, but I do thank all of you for your remarks. I know there's a lot of you that would have done the same. It's nice to know there's people today that will still do the right thing. And to you vector001, I thank you for your offer.Even if I never get a chance to take you up on it,I still appreciate it.

you bet, brother.

you did me a favor with your good example.

it helps ya keep on keepin' on.

So if you were just a little bit dummer you would have walked off with 2 much more expensive axes and a clear conscience. I guess ignorance is bliss.
The last time i was in Saskatoon I got a CS TrailHawk.
I wanted to hit Lee Valley but did not have time.
Nic seeing a fellow Saskatchewan guy here and I am not surprised you are honest. It seems
like we are years behind the rest of the world which is not always a bad thing

Good for you, you did the right thing!
Hmmm i wonder how many customers didn't do the right thing?

I wish we had a Lee Valley here, it would be nice to just be able to walk in there and buy something instead of having to always catalog/online shop.
A local MEC would be nice too, lol!

Good Job! I flew into and out of Saskatoon in September. Was on my way to Blaine Lake for a duck, goose and upland bird trip. What good people! Reminded my of the folks in the rural southern US, well with a different accent - salt of the earth. Bravo for doing the right thing.

My only problem in Canada was a 12 pack of Coors Light(aka breakfast beer) was $25.

I'm telling you, if I would have bought them knowing that, then someone with no insurance would have rear ended me on the drive home. You made the smart choice.

The man who could say no after laying eyes on a mini is right on in my book!
It probably would not have been a victimless crime, from the womans reaction.
Good work, bro.

I think you should have asked for the manager. Then you could have explained to him or her how you really like GB axes. Tell the manager how you sell the quality of their store to everyone. Explain what you really came for(the smaller priced axes). Explain how you took x.. amount of time to get to the store and then home again. Explain how you know they were miss priced, and then ask kindly if they would sell you the axes at their mistaken prices. I admire your honestly though! I would have been so tempted if I had seen a GB broadaxe live at the store.

I really have no use for the broad axe although the mini would have been nice.As far as talking to the manager,I never even thought of that.I only get to the city maybe once a year(it's a 3 hour drive away),& I don't want to mail-order as I like picking axes out in person,so it'll be awhile before I get another opportunity to get GB's.That said,I don't have any regrets as doing the right thing always feels ''right''.
