I was wondering if anyone has tried the Carpenter's Axe from Gransfors.
I've been doing some carving with the Mora drawknife (it really works, by the way).
Some parts of the job feel like they would lend themselves to a nice sharp axe.
How do real carpenters use an axe, anyway?

Also wondering how the Carpenter's Axe would hold up if it were sometimes used for outdoor work (WOOD only, of course; I would never use it to dig, or chop nails).

I can't comment really, but I would like to know myself. I have been eyeing them for a while with the same purposes in mind.

There are a bunch of places online that have at least one GB axe.
I think you can order directly from the American branch:
Gränsfors Bruks Inc
821 W. 5th North Street
P.O. Box 818, Summerville
South Carolina 29484
USA

Phone: 843-875-0240 or 800-433-2863
Fax: 843-821-2285
info@gransfors.com

If you go to www.gransfors.com, ask for English, and click "Products" it will show you the whole lineup (but not the prices).

Many of them are available at Lee Valley

Highland Hardware has an assortment including some non-axe tools from Gransfors:

Highland probably has the best price on the Carpenter's at $49.99.
Who has the best price depends on exactly which axe you want.
