I know it is not for everyone, but I like the look :D

I just picked up this Burnt Orange EZ Open from Mike for my Wife.

She was having a hard time opening her GEC Congress (Burnt Orange). This

works just right

Anyone else an Orange or EZ fan?

That is some seriously deep jigging on the EZ--what do they call it? Should help control the little 3 incher.

Also, do you find yourself using the EZ cut-out as a rear choil, to increase grip? Maybe with your ring or pinkie finger?

I am no help on the grip :o My Wife has not put it down where

I can get to it. (Yet)

On the GEC website they list the EZ as

Jigged Burnt Orange

and the Scout as

Navajo Jigged Burnt Orange

I like the color. It looks natural, and easy on the eyes. Looks like fall in N.E.

I've got that slim 73 in the orange, very good colour indeed nice rich shade not garish or citrus coloured at all. I like the herringbone jigging as well.

My EZ Open is in Amber Bone, fine little knife with swedged Spear blade, extremely well finished. But, easy open it is not....same macho spring on this as the usual GEC, not that I mind though, but others might...

i have a burnt orange Queen barlow, that looks very similar to that GEC orange bone. I like it, and carry it quite a lot.

She knows better:D.

I love the look of those EZ opens with the wharnie blade and the jigging on it is great too. That is a beautiful congress that you have there also. The orange bone is really nice and will probably be even nicer with a little age. In fact, the only thing I don't like about those knives are the bolsters on the scouts. I just haven't been able to warm up to those flat bolsters for some reason.

This ease of opening must really vary, depending on any individual knife. I had a river blue bone easy open with spear blade that pulled pretty darn easy - pinch open without a problem.

Also in agreement with black mamba - the cut-out is a great place to use your ring finger or pinkie to get a better grip!

Mamba, I don't know what the jigging pattern is called but I have the same EZ Open in burnt orange and it has decent grip. It's funny you asked about the cutout doubling as a choil because that how I use mine. The springs are pretty stout and I guess it's slightly easier to open than a nail nick model, but still a stiff opener.
I used it last week while volunteering at a food bank and never lost my grip once, and it stayed sharp the entire time. It's a good little knife.
