GEC Pioneer vs. Scout - comparison pics?

Hi,

I just got a GEC Pioneer, and for whatever reason I thought it would be somewhat smaller,
it turns out this is one heck of a chunk of metal!

I'm considering a Scout, but was wondering,

Does anyone have a side by side photo of a Pioneer and a Scout?

I'd like to make a comparison before I get one...

Or even a Pioneer, and a stockman, or a cuban, etc...

thanks!

Sorry, I don't have a picture, but the Scout is 3/4 inch shorter (closed) than the Pioneer, and the blade is 3/8 shorter.

I've never owned the Pioneer, but at 4.5" closed, it sure seems like it's awfully big. I did have a Scout & while it's 3.75" closed, it's pretty bulky compared to other slippies that I have that are the same length.

Here are some of mine for comparison. The middle 3 are #23 pattern Pioneers at 4-1/2". The top left and the top 2 right columns are #73 pattern Scouts at 3-3/4". The bottom 2 in the left column are #53/54 pattern Cuban equal ends at 4-1/8". The little one on the bottom right column is a #25 Barlow at 3".

The top left and center with the double bomb shields are Bulldog USA knives made for them by GEC.

Mamba's pic shows it all. The pioneer is a hoss. Long, thick, and wide. IMO, it carries nice as long as you dont mind the weight and you can keep it vertical in your pocket (ie in a pocket sheath or next to a cell phone, etc). I carry mine frequently. The scout seems much more pocketable, but the one I have is reserved for my dad's b-day next week, so I haven't been able to test that theory.

+1 Indian, that sums it up. The Tidioute Big Jack was my first GEC, and I thought it was a lot of knife! But the Pioneer just dwarfs it.

Here's a pic of the Pioneer with other common slipjoint's. (Well, the melon whittler excluded.) It's about the same size as a Buck 110.
