I was looking at the GEC new releases and they have an acrylic called Polar Ice. I love that look! I must get one.

Thanks for the link Esav. I was just giving him a bad time :D

They are definitely different, kinda cool looking. Not to sure about the guitar shield though

I'm not really fond of the knife, but I love the acrylic pattern and color.

Kind of interesting scales. Too bad about the hidiously garish etching on the master blade. :barf:

if you like this one you should like the moose in Eggs & Hotsauce.

The moose *is* interesting -- the eggs & hotsauce is a nice variant on the old butter & molasses scales, and the guitar shield looks pretty good there - much more in the proper scale on the larger knife. But that etch is still a horror. :barf: If old catalogs are any indication, many old knives had etches at least as tacky - we're just spared seeing them because they disappear with just a little use on the carbon steel. Tradition is great, but sometimes I think we should be much more careful about which ones we recreate.

I think Flitz will take off the etch...doesn't everybody have a tube?

Those are very small knives; the same size az the EZ open model. With that guitar so close to the pins, that one looks born to die to me. YMMV

That material is nice, while not a real blue fan, that shade/swirl is growing on me... Def makes me thin cold/polar/ice... I can live with the etch since a patina will obscure it in a couple days time. like the looks of the pattern, but its too bad its a wharncliffe... bloody useless blades...(IMO, YMMV)

Flitz absolutely will take that nasty etch right off. As will Simichrome. It only takes a couple of swipes- and voila! Instant de-tackification. I hate blade etchings as much as the next guy, but with GEC's it's a non-issue for me. I just clean 'em off and forget about it.

The sleeveboard pattern is one of GEC's nicest. I don't know how much I'd like it with that wharncliffe blade though, it would be interesting to see it closed. I'm lukewarm about the guitar shield- the only knife I thought it looked great on was the toothpick in dead skunk acrylic.
