Actually I couldn't make it to the Gembloux knife show in Belgium, but a friend of mine brought me back these two pieces. The knives are made by two buddies of mine too, which makes them even more special for me.

The first one is a friction folder made by Oufti (Belgium).
The blade is 3 1/8" for a 7 2/3" OAL.
Suminagashi was used for the blade, that's a sandwich construction with a high carbon steel core and the outer layers made of iron/nickel. The handle is titanium.
It's a good size for EDC and handles very good.

The second one is a camp knife made by Fabian Damanet (Belgium again). The blade has 11 1/2" and it's made of Wootz. OAL 17 1/8". The guard is hammered-finish shibu-ichi, the wood desert Eucalyptus.
Came with a beautiful and sturdy leather sheath with wood internal scabbard.
The wootz pattern is very beautiful, unfortunately my pic doesn't show it very good. I'll have to try different lightning.
Ever since I collect knives I wanted a big wootz camp knife. Thank you Fabian for making it happen!

both are awesome...i love the friction folder and the camp knife is crazy....i'd love to see a close up of the steel wen u get a chance.....the handle looks nice...how comfortable is it to hold....ryan

Tried a close up of the steel, it shows the pattern better than the first pic

Those are great looking pieces!!

Do you know if Fabian Damanet has a web site or some contact info? I couldn't find it f/the link of the pics you posted.

The http://wootz.be works fine for me. If it doesn't work for you send me a private message or email and I'll give you Fabian's contact info.

Here is a pic showing the sheath. The belt loop is on the "overcoat" and you can take the knife with sheath off your belt easily by undoing a snap button. I hope it makes sense.

That's a frog. It's an old adaptation, used on belts or baldrics so the sword or large dagger wouldn't have to be carried everywhere. Just slip the sheath into the frog when you're ready to go.

Just learned something, thank you!

Didn't Fikes have some kind of drop in sheath set-up similar ?

Welcome Fabian ! :D

Yep, my Fikes has a similar setup, only with a strap instead of the snap button.

There were some hammerin' fools at Gembloux!!! The show was slow because of the economic situation. I sold 2 knives. There were some wild blades at the show. The BKS calls part timers "hobbyists" but there wasn't anything hobbyish about their work. I took a few pics, some of which actually turned out. I will try to post them in the next couple of days.
