Gerber question.Mark4????

Somebody I was talking to kept insiting to me that Gerber made a knife called the mark four. He described it as a dagger with seerations.

The knife that quickly came to mind was the mark 2. I showed him a pic of the mark 2 and he said it was close but not the"mark4"


My question is this: Was this guy smoking something or was there a Mark4?

I know that there had to be a mark 3 in order for there to be a makr 4. With the Mark 2 discoutnined not too long ago, with no mark 3 that i know of, how did this guy come up with a makr 4?

This guy said that it was issued twenty years ago. Mind you, this guy was not exactly stable.
 
hmmm. i'm an old gerber man and i have never heard of a mark 3 or 4, but that doesnt really mean anything lol.

i have never heard of them though, for sure.....

Gerber made the Tac I and Tac II knives with a spring loaded push button release on the hard plastic sheath. IIRC, one of those was double edged with serrations and the overall profile of the knife was similar to the Mark I and II. I say similar, not identical and I am sure anyone familiar would not confuse the two. Maybe your buddy is thinking of these blades?

Not my buddy , a customer. I work.. in a retail knife store( gasp!!)

Haha, I'm not sure if your customer was smoking or not. Maybe had one too many drinks, but I certainly don't recall any Mark 4's. Being in retail myself, there are lot of times where a customer will pretend they know a lot and make stuff up. Maybe your customer found a knock off with "Mark 4" stamped on it.
 
Hey Yuk, you certainly have that right! I worked part time for a while in a knife store and heard a lot of weird things. On the subject of Gerbers, a couple of goobers came in one time and the one guy asks to see a Mark I. I pull it out and he says to his buddy this here is the best skinning knife ever made! I almost choked! Oh well the customer is always right, right? Right!

lol, the mark 1 and 2 are a lot of things, but skinning knives (except in extreme situations) they most certainly are NOT!!!!!

I don't like the Gerber Commands...I hate the blade...you can't beat Marks or Guardians though!
