BTW, old age is in quotes cause im only 21...

I used to love carrying my MT DA SOCOM, a CT II, and I've been through about 3 different DA LCCs....

I had a BM42, which I sold because, honestly, I didn't like it (please don't flame me too bad)...

I carried all these knives here and there, but have come to the realization that I may be asking for trouble...

I think the legal limit on autos here in California is a 2 inch blade (which i think sucks)...but what am i really risking by breaking this law??

Do i really want that sort of trouble? What if i get stopped for speeding, and the cop wants to arrest me for it? what if the DA wants to prosecute to the full extent of the law??

Is it really worth all that trouble to carry one of these knives...Since I came to this little "epiphany" i've been carrying a manual mini-socom, but with the release of the Tachyon and the BM31, I really want to start carrying balis again....

What are your opinions on this?...particularly those of you in non-auto friendly states...

I'll say the same thing I've always said: If you can't afford to pay the penalty, don't break the law. Chances are you could probably get away with carrying those illegal weapons if you don't do anything rash in public. But for that one time you're caught, you're risking, at the very least, forfiture of the illegal knife, and at the very most doing some time for weapon's possession (not a good thing, as this will lead to you having a criminal record, and that can come back and haunt you later in your young life). Plus a myriad of fines in between.

You're fortunate in being able to carry a 2" auto. Any auto's in NYC is illegal, except for certain government employees. Search for the thread "Legalities" a few weeks back, for some pretty definitive discussion on this topic.

If You're really set on a Bali that BM 31 is the answer.I might be looking into one of those Myself.tom.

The fact that you mentioned all the "stuff" that can happen legally (and it can)...is reason enough to "stay legal" in my opinion.

Knowing "how to carry".., and common sense is generally the answer at all times. If you "party".., "drink and drive"...or any of the other behaviors that are obvious..., then I'd say at (21)...you are definitely a high risk candidate for at least confiscation of a knife you like to snuggle with!

I mentioned once before that The Law is very subjective about this stuff..., but one police officer that happens to take particular notice to you...., can ruin several years of your life.

Carry what you think is necessary, and be ready to deal with the consequences.
