Took a pretty hard crash on the bike today. Hit a jump and the back tire hit first and made my weight shift and threw me over the handle bars. I landed on my arm hard and dug the watch into the dirt pretty good. Didn't skip a beat, hell it didn't even get scratched haha. Wish I could say the same for my arm and knees. Knocked the wind out of me for a solid minute.

Glad you're OK.

Having worked over 30 years as a mechanic I had bought a G-Shock about ten years ago to wear to work every day and it received a bunch of abuse from cold, heat, chemicals, bumps, scrapes, and everything else. Looks like hell but still keeps perfect time.

I have a couple of them. I swear by them for field use especially when I am around water. I just have to remember not to wear one when I am spray painting. :) Best way I know to essentially make a $100 watch into something you won't wear where people see it.

ok on a MTB, i know your pain brother! been over the bars on mine before, glad to see you only havea bit of rash. And nice watch, looks like it doesn't even have a scratch.

glad you're OK brother, last time I went over the handlebars I broke my arm.
Didn't even get scuffed, that's impressive.

Casio makes some "hard to kill" watches. I have a Casio (analog) that is over 30 years old and still runs.

I remember falling off my bike when I was a kid. The first thing I checked was my watch to make sure I hadn't messed it up. Watch survived fine. I got a few minor scrapes and a very bruised ego. I crashed because I had the brilliant idea of trying to steer my bike with my hands criss crossed, right hand on the left grip and vice versa. It didn't work.

the sad thing is that some poor kid is gonna come along and read this some day and think "hey! That's a good idea!"
:D

Yep, g-shocks are very tough.
Have one since 2007, a mudman, and it has been through a lot, bumps, falls, water, snow, you name it, and aside from some scratches on the resin, it looks great.
Take care.

G-Shocks rule the badlands. i own much more expensive watches, but none offer the durability of the G-Shock.

Haven't been on a bike in decades. Why did you have to say that? Hands cris crossed eh?

Digdeep,

I try to learn from my mistakes (this one I did learn something) and hope that others can learn from my mistakes too.

I just picked up a DW6900MS and am loving it so far. I quit wearing watches years back because I always seemed to break them. Good thing G-Shocks are pretty tough because I'm hard on watches for some reason.

I have the exact same watch and love it. I use it as my gym/exercise/outdoors watch. It has some minor scuffing but still looks great

This reminds me of a bike accident I was in about 3 years ago. I was racing home from work on my mountain bike, jumping up and down curbs, taking sharp corners, etc. After jumping over a flower bed to cut through a parking lot I lost control of the handle bar and the bike started veering to one side then the other (I was going so fast it took a few seconds to crash). Man, what a spill! I hit the pavement hard and tumbled for about 8 feet, disoriented. When I came to I realized my right leg and right hand were skinned and covered in blood, and I had an incredible headache. It occurred to me that I had slammed my head onto the pavement, as I was having a problem regaining my ability to balance the world in my vision. Luckily, I had been wearing my Oakley Straightjacket sunglasses which had taken the brunt of the force to my head during the fall--sort of like a helmet. Apparently I came down directly on my eyesocket/cheekbone and the polymer frame of the Oakleys, which is very thick, had protected me. My cheekbone was so sore for days after and the fall left me with permanent scars on my legs and hands. Unlike the OP's watch, however, my Oakleys were destroyed. I've since replaced them with Monster Dogs!

There is a reason the G's have an immense and longstanding fan base.

My Atomic/solar 6900 for duty..

I love my ga 110c. Im a mechanic and find it hard to wear a watch while workin on cars though. I get too sweaty and hot in the summer and i cant fit my hand into tight places either. I wear it pretty much everywhere else though.

when working in tight places I find myself strapping the watch I'm wearing onto my belt, upside down so I can still read the time.
