Hi guys,

Just thought you would like to know, our Scouting group just was about to place another order of Glowrings when we received word from Trasers Sales manager that they are about to introduce a modified clear key-chain casing holding the glowtube to make it better and keep the Glowtube from breaking (sometimes) due to the casing halves starting to separate.

Here's part of the message:
========================
Hi Piet

Thanks for this feedback.

Just to let you know that we have made some changes to the casing which will be implemented on all glowrings from the end of this month. What we have done is to make the pegs that hold the unit together tighter and the plastic casing at the split ring end far thicker.

We are making tests this week to approve the final tooling and expect
delivery by the end of August.
=========================

We were happy they listened to our comments and will order the improved model in just a weeks time.
So watch out if you are buying some Glowrings shortly that you'll get the improved model as these should be more solid.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Piet, I have the old and new style. My new style has cracked.
When the new, new style arrives, can you let me know so I can get a replacement? Thanks.

Hi,

New style cracked? what the clear plastic casing? or the Glowtube inside or even both?
Anyhow don't throw it away if the casing cracked we could get a replacement for it.

One word of caution on these "stronger" cases - you won't be able to pop out the tube as easily. That's good news and bad news, of course. But for those of us who use the tubes "naked" this might make things a bit tougher. When used as an actual keyring, it will probably be better to have the case harder to open.

Just some thoughts from a BladeForum newbie who is NOT new to glow rings.

Photos of the different glowrings would be great.

I mostly have ones that rattle inside the plastic case.
I think the ones that don't rattle, don't have any writing on the inside of the packaging card.

I have 18 left out of the 100 I ordered (bulk discount makes for great savings!)
For something that glows in the dark [okay you can see the glow better in the dark - I realise they glow all the time]
For things that glow in the dark, they have vanished very fast!

In times of darkness, friends often dangle their glowrings at me. I got them so cheap [compared to the price each/pair] that I just gave most of them away as gifts.

What do you guys think? I know greens are the brightest, but aren't dark blues (Edit: "Deep Purple") the coolest?

Al :D

If you mean the purple when you say "dark blue" then yes... I agree. I think yellow and green are the most visible, but the purple is the sexiest by far.

When I ask friends which one they want (I often have all five on a keyring) they have almost always said "The dark blue one please."
So I guess I call it dark blue because everyone I've shown it to has called it that.

Deep Purple is popular with females. I can't help but give them one when they ask. Perhaps thats wht I have so few left?

Al

Bagheera, I'd also appreciate it if you can let me know when you receive the new style Glowrings. I'd be interested in getting a few, if possible. ;)

Thanks. :D

I posted about availability on these things a month or so ago. I'm sill interested in getting a couple.

At least one green and a couple blue.

Hi jmxcpter,

your email address is incorrect, send me an email, my address is OK.

Bagheera:

Christmas is coming and I'll probably need more as gifts.

Will you post pictures of the new design when available?

Know anything about new colours?

Hi RifRaf,

Tried contacting you, was not possible so drop me an email ASAP.

The improved new model Glowrings are essentially the same as they are now they just enlarged the 'pins' holding the casing halves together and beefed up the side were the split-ring goes through as one of the casing halves could break at that region when one filled up the split-ring with survival goodies ;).

We are placing an order for our own needs next week and never have many extra's we only add the ones friends ask for.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

How much did this cost you?

I paid £3 each when I ordered 100.
The guy at Traser who processed my order included the VAT (17.5%) and shipping so I paid £300 for 100. Seemed like a good deal. Cheap enough for me to give most of them away to family & friends like I'm buying them a drink. Just like when buying drinks, I've seemed to gain friends and family...
