As this is the knife throwing forum I'm sure that some of the members will have experimented or heard which normal blades can be used as throwers, if I was interested and used throwers I'm sure I would have some knowledge in this area......thanks for the warm welcome

General rule of thumb is, folders suck for throwing because they are handle heavy and break easily. Why do you want a folder? If you do throw a folder, good luck finding one that can withstand the learning process I'm sure you'll go through. Even pro's mess a rotation or two to find the spot. If you are throwing it no-spin ( which favors handle heavy ) it might last longer but its up to you. For inexpensive fun throwers check out Ebay and Cold Steel Pro Throwers. I've gotten about 3 now for under $7 each, hell of knife for that price and great for no-spin throwing.

... folders are certainly not throwers. Throwers are a specialty knife and they are balanced especially for throwing. Good luck, knife and hawk throwing is fun!

With all due respect, that's simply not true. Even for rotational throws, any knife can be thrown if you know the rotations per meter (or are familiar with throwing the knife).

Any throwers are simply blade or handle heavy to facilitate techniques, or nuetrally balanced for consistency. The importance of "balance" is a myth when it comes to throwing knives - the balance point of the knife is actually affects utility work or hand to hand techniques more than throwing.

Correct Will P. but not any beginner can learn to toss an unbalanced knife. I agree, over half my knifes have no "balance" but I've been having fun at this for over 11+ years and still learning everytime out. The main obstacle here is durability!

I had a customer a few months ago with the same request. I advised him agaisnt it, but he insisted. He ended up going with a Gerber Applegate/fairburn. He brought it in a month later and it held up pretty well. I was suprised.
