Pala leaves Thursday so tomorrow will be the last day of the 20% off sale. That's the bad news.

The good news is he wants to keep giving khukuris away to keep the cash flow going. So the PGAs will keeping going up on a regular basis until further notice.

Stay tuned.

Uncle Bill, please relay to Pala our best wishes for a safe journey home, prosperity and safety for BirGorkha and of course just plain thanks for the PGAs :)

May he have a pleasant and uneventful trip back.

Great---If I'm not careful that will keep my cash flow going too...OUT.

I'll be thinking of the shop move when I move too--into a refrigerator box. Are the waxed ones hard to find??:D

Yep, safe trip, and all the best when he gets home. Sounds like things are "heating up" over there according to the news.

Tell Pala to take care and BE SAFE!!!!!

Untill next time.:)

Also tell Pala thank you for being so generous and providing such a great product!

Bill,

Add me to the list of well wishers. Please ask Pala to pass on those wishes also to the kamis. Hope they remain safe and protected.

Alan

Namaskar to Pala, and may he have a safe and uneventful journey home. Namaste to Bura; may he be true to his forefathers in crafting the big dui chirra. Success to the army and government of Nepal in exterminating the Maoists; if not, Darjeeling is a place of great beauty.

..about a "question and answer" day before he leaves - all the stuff we've come up with over the past few months that you have put in the "I'll ask Pala when he is here" drawer". Don't want to make him any more anxious to leave, and certainly don't want to rush him off, but I could probably ruin his morning on woodchuck stuff alone :D

Same with me. :)

I'll tell him. He can't handle English well enough to read or participate on the forum personally but I wade thru most of the stuff with him. Sort of like the blind leading the blind. We often have to work Yangdu in to help with the translation.

He's loaded down with stuff for the kamis. Good thing he's a Sherpa or he wouldn't be able to handle that suitcase he bought. I can't.

Hi Uncle Bill!

Checking for PGA specials hourly! Can't wait to get my next one. Greetings from North Carolina, USA:p :p :p

Pala ran our inventory down to near nothing while he was here. Now I have to get stocked up a little before I can start the PGAs again. Pala should be in Nepal today. We'll try to call him this weekend and see what's going on.

Selling lots of khuks was the idea, right?:)

Sounds like the cash-raising was successful.

BTW, how far is the new factory site from the current one? How are prospects for more villagers or new visiting kamis bringing even more patterns? Or will keeping a lower profile be part of the new plan for increased security?

New site will be about 12 or 15 miles from present location as best as I can tell. Due to current travel restrictions plus the Nepal Army looking unfavorable on people carrying a lot of khukuris (we've had trouble already trying to get khukuris from shop to UPS office) I don't see many village models in our immediate future. I think Pala's philosophy with the new shop is "out of sight, out of mind."

Kinda what I figured. Unfortunate, but necessary, I guess. Seems like any underemployed village kami who was able to improve his situation by doing business with Pala would be less likely to support or tolerate the Maoists. But you can't help everone, and he's sure got a load of people to look out for now.

Maybe Britain can be convinced to loan back some Ghorkas...If Maoists ever got to be in charge, the supply would surely end.
