Don't hesitate, don't pass GO, don't collect $200. Call Centaur Forge 1-800-666-9175 or go to their website http://www.centaurforge.com and request a catalog. They have tons and tons of cool stuff and many great books, some available nowhere else. The blacksmithing tools will make you drool and your bank account will soon be empty but you'll have a smile on your face!

Another place is Uncle Al's.

If you forge, this is the knifemaker's supply house to use. Al also has very good prices on other things such as handle material, bolts, etc.

Since you're so close, check out Alvin Farrier Supply in Alvin, TX.

Peter Atwood has the right idea here for tongs. Centaur Forge ships fast, are good people to do business with and discount some for quantity.

Thank you all for the help. C Wilkins, is there any other good places around here besides Texas Knife Supply to get forging and knife making stuff. What tongs should I get from Centaur? I ordered there catalog but it wont be here for like 6 weeks, I dont have that long and since I cant see what the tongs look like I would like suggestions. It will be to handle flat stock about 1 inch wide. Thanks again.

Hey Orrin -

CD said "TONGS," not "THONGS!" LMAO!

Charles: Go to keenjunk.com and then click on Kayne and Son ad, some of the best prices out there, dlee

Charles,
You aren't going to find too much stuff associated with forging from TKS. The do carry 1084, 5160 and maybe 15N20 but not much else.

For tongs, take a ride over to Alvin. Don't bother going to D&D on 290, they just have horseshoe tongs.

To order any, Centaur has about the best selection. Uncle Al's carries some as well.

Shoot me an email sometime, we can discuss it at length.
