Yes, it's a hunting/skinning/outdoors knife. I don't do any hunting, not much outdoor activity (I live in a city), but I like it! It just feels good, and looks good. I first noticed those BladeTech Wegners, and have always eyed the old Spyderco Wegner models, but never owned any. It's a really solid knife, and is aesthetically pleasing. I really like the little logos: the gold Bug on the blade, silver one on the clip, and Wegner's logo on the back of the blade. And of course the ocelot pawprints are pretty different. I do recommend picking one up if you're looking for a nice outdoors folder or just a new Spyderco.

Wasn't there a prototype of this knife that had a titanium handle?

Edit: wow, gotta love spydies for bein sharp! I cut myself and didn't even feel it. And it cuts through paper like it's not even trying!

congrats

i used to have one of the PE Wegners (ATS-34) and loved it, especially the smooth handle shape, it had none of those horrible finger choils found on other models that never seem to fit my hand -they were either built for gargantuan mountain men or im just too impish :(

it's nice to see this blade and handle shape return, in conjunction with a much stronger locking mechanizm. i feel its one of spyderco's best models. the shape of the blade lends itself to excellent daily use, you'll enjoy it as an EDC. i dont hunt either but've used my wegner frequently in preparing food, mostly splitting oxtails and boning chicken meat for soups. have fun

PS: i hope to round up some scrimpings for the OC

Just ordered one from NewGraham. I've been waiting a looooong time for this one. Darn near considered paying MSRP at the Spydie store just to be sure I got one. Probably would have, if I couldn't find one online.

Nope the Proto's had either black or black/green scales with the pug marks. The green ones looked like black footprints in grass.

How 'bout some good pics?

How is the lockup? Any play?

If I get a chance to grab my dad's camera I'll take some pics, but it's going to be a busy weekend. And yeah I paid too much for it, but I don't mind. I got it from FlamesNKNives on ebay for like $170 not realizing that was almost MSRP, but New Graham didn't have it yet and I didn't feel like waiting.

And there's no bladeplay... typical solid Spyderco lockback. It feels so solid when it snaps open!

Plenty in stock now..both PE and PS
