And WOW!!!!!! Whata BEAST. I have not held it much but enough to know it is going to be a workhorse. A buddy of mine was also impressed with it and how sharp it was. He asked how long it took me to get it that sharp, I said it came that way and it is used.

:D :D :D

I will post pics when I can and report on useage.

Also got a sheath for my HR from leatheran

That man knows his leather. Will post pics of it also.

I'm always delighted to see somebody pick one of these up and be happy with it. It was the first Rat I bought (back on the introduction low price special) and I dearly love it. It also doesn't get much in the way of forum props, and I fear that it may someday disappear from the lineup.

I still contend that it shouldn't be thought of as a hatchet, as it doesn't have the mass of even the Camp Tramp, and doesn't truly shine in chopping; but it is an excellent slicer, having the most truly convex grind of any of the Rats, and its size and shape make it very easy to work with. Carl (cj-7 over here) and I were talking about its use as an Ulu type blade, and think it has serious potential in the kitchen.

Be sure to follow this up after you've used it a bit! :)

I think it is going to be a great utility for making fuzz sticks, light brush clearing and the like. He!!, I think it can even be used as a mini cleaver in the kitchen. I am excited about this one. It's a keeper.

It does have a fair amount of heft to it bit I guess it suffers from lack of distance from the handle to the head/blade area. I like it though. Has anyone done any slashing drills with it. Just curious.

Pics later
