I picked this up last night and wanted to share some quick pics.

Initial impressions:
- Roughly the same feel in the hand as a Jester.
- Nice and sharp with a very smooth edge. I can shave hair and filet sheets of notebook paper with it.
- Slight horizantal wiggle, no apparent vertical play.
- Overall doesn't feel quite as stout as a Jester, but I like the slightly larger opening hole and deeper/wider blade.

Overall I am quite impressed with it for the money.

Just another example of the "Spyder Bug"! Glad you like it. I waiting for the FRN's to come out. Wait, is that a FRN handle???:)

I've got the Raven and the Crow, looks like I'll need that to complete the family.

I might consider buying a Crow just because, well, I like crows... but I can't get past the idea of buying a riveted knife now that I've crossed a certain point and now dislike the idea of "however it's put together and tightened, that's how it's ever going to be."

wwels20, yes, that is FRN. It weighs basically nothing. I have been carrying mine around in my dress shirt pockets at work with a USB thumbdrive and a 'Faux'-ton led light.

PJ,

Well, I understand what you are saying, but 1) all the Bryds that I have bought so far have been very well put together and 2) virtually all of them are below $20 street price, so if you do wear them out it is not a huge loss.

I remain quite impressed with this little guy for the money. I have also been using a Robin for about a month now and love it. It is everything that I wanted the Dragonfly to be, but cheaper.

thanks for the pics and for the feedback. The starling is on my list of byrds to get, and i think for the $ is a great addition to the byrd line and the key chain knife world.

The Crow I had was screwed together. (Turner, that Crow has screws right?)

Revolver, thanks for the input! I'll have to check it out.

How about the edge retaining capability?

Regarding the opening and close feeling, is it as good as Jester or Ladybug?

Edge holding seems good, but so far all that I have been doing is slicing open envelopes and the tape on packing boxes with it.

Opening *for me* is easier on this knife than either of the smallest Spydies because it has the largest opening hole of the bunch. I always found the Ladybug somewhat hard to open one handed personally due to the size of my fingers.

Thank for the reply. I hope we will have a longer term usage review... :)

By the way, where do u get it?

I tried to find most of the welknown online store, but no one has it in stock yet. That is really interesting, why?

Anyway, I hope it will be available soon. I really want to try out this steel. I already owned a Ladybug. But the steel and blade geometry is not good. I use it to cut up a plastic drinking water bottle and the tip bent a bit.

I think Starling blade geometry has improved on the tip strength a lot. And from Cliff Stamp good comment on this steel, I really want to hand on this litle knife and try to use it.
