Hey guys. A while ago, as most of you know, the post office lost a package of almost all my knives. I got the insurance check recently. So I am going to buy a knife for myself. Im going to go with what ya'll think is what I should get. Its got to be carbon steel, American made, under $80. I'm thinking Case since I no longer have anything from them. Maybe a Copperhead which I enjoy or a Stockman. I've also looked at a Case 6235 1/2 or something of the sort like that. What do you guys think?

Heck, with 80 clams to spend go to town. Get a nice Cv stockman if you like, but also get a yella carbon soddie. Everyone needs a yella soddie, don't they?:D

I do not believe you are not telling him to get a yella carbon peanut!!!!!!!!

Shhh, quiet now. To get a new cult member you first get him to get used to a yella handle knife in CV. Any yella CV will do. Then you work them down to a peanut. The cult is sneaky that way!;)

The peanut is my enemy. Seriously. I have large fat hands. I cant even use the Schrade Minute Man that I have cause its so small. But I am liking the idea of a soddie. Dont have one of those yet, or ever.

+1 on all the above! Soddie for sure, and you may also want to consider an Amber Bone Small Texas Jack CV.

+ 1 for small Texas Jack cv in amber bone  I love mine, I have to get another one later. :D

It's hard to argue against a soddie, but from Case I love the look of the Sway Back Jack. It may be a little on the small side though if you have large hands. If you're not set on Case, a Moore Maker #6202B Stag Trapper can be found in your price range and looks very nice. GEC also has some knives available under $80 and they are definitely hand fillers.

+2 on the Texas jack, CV. Carried mine today. Normally I'm a round bolster kinda guy, but this little jack just suits me for some reason.

If'n I was you, I would watch the big auction site every day, and pick up a nice older red bone Case in whatever pattern you like. Oh wait a minute, I already do that :D

Much different than the stuff they call red bone nowadays. Some were available in SS if you prefer, but most were good ol carbon steel

Hey that is terrific news!!!! Good for you.!!! Ya know ya just can't go wrong with a Case 6235 1/2. That is a terrific pattern. Good to hear from you and looks like things are picking up. Take Care!

That certain auction site is great for picking up NIB Case CV models......

The top medium stockman was like 35 plus shipping, the large stockmans were closer to 45, the medium trapper was like 35 and the Texas Jack was 35 shipped.

I got some on "make an offer" deals and got good prices. If I had 80 bones to kill, I'd probably get a congress pattern CV in red bone. They run about 50 IIRC.

It has to be a CASE Large Stockman then! Amber Bone is never a poor choice, but if you are lucky you might still catch one of those Bonestag knives (that lwt 210 just showed) I know I'd like one to join my Amber model.

I'd also like to suggest a Böker Large Stockman (just a bit smaller than the CASE and with rounded bolsters) or their excellent Copperhead, both in carbon. I don't think CASE does any cv Copperheads or if they did, twas long ago.

Case Copperheads stopped being produced in CV a while ago, but man they are nice to get. And I think it is between that, the Copperhead, and a Large Stockman. I am looking at Case and a few Bokers. Gonna get whatever floats my boat, but I might be able to get a nice CV 6345 Stockman. So I'm keeping m eyes open right now.

Here's my Case #6200CV Copperhead, made 10/16/97, in amber stag bone. I haven't EDC'd it yet, but it's one of my all-time favorites.

Found it on the bay for under 50 bucks-- sometimes you just get blessed! :)

OOOOOH one with a speyblade?!?!?! Now thats awesome. I am envious!

It seems a lot of guys prefer a pen secondary blade, but I always loved a spey, myself! The only thing that might challenge it would be a Wharnie, but I don't believe they ever made that combo in a copperhead.

They didn't as far as I know. And the spey is nice, just not as aesthetically pleasing to me.
