I just bought two Super Tinkers at walmart for $15.00 dollars each (not including tax).
Great deal IMO.

BTW, I am in no way an employee or affiliated with walmart in any way.
Just sharing the news on a good deal.

wow ,,that is a great price,,have one myself that i edc ,,,its great,,,gonna get a couple more today,, maybe make nice x-mas presents,,

Well, I'm near Charlotte too........the WalMart stores here in Concord/Kannapolis have done away with their sporting good counter.....everything is in blister packs now. Is that how you found them or are they closing out the boxed knives they sold out of the display case?

I bought up about 20 or so Champion Plus models from the one on Albemarle/Harrisburg Rd. a few years ago for about $13 ea. Kept a few and sold the rest to FelineVet and one other person.

Yep, the knife display counter is gone and they were in blister packs.
I also noticed that there were no other vics to be found.

Maybe walmart is no longer going to carry Victorinox???

They may stop selling them. I figured they would would go with a cheap Chineese import look-a-like! Most of the Gerber items they carry are probably made in China by now. Leatherman I'm not sure about. The Leatherman's I own are all stamped Made in USA...and I haven't bought any in several years now. I think the majority of Leatherman products are from this country with some imported/foreign parts though.

Although I am not entirely sure about this, I heard a report that one of the larger hardware/home improvement chains found the cheap crap wasn't selling so well as word spread, and so started reintroducing SOG, Leatherman et al. At least, I hope it is true.

Correct on the Leatherman, although as a point of interest, even your "made in USA" versions were done up the same way. The company got caught, had to pay a fine, and no longer stamps USA on its products. I think the Micra might be all US made, but that's information a few years old.

Actually, here in Texas I saw the super tinker at Walmart for $11 or $12 and the classics were just under $7 ($6.89?).

I went to one Wal-Mart and bought 2 Super Tinkers for $11.00 each!! Went to another Wal-Mart store and they were not reduced in price(19.99). This must be on a store by store basis.

They're even less expensive here..I bought one today at WallyWorld for $11.99 total. Got a second one at a yard sale still in the package for $8.00. Nice day!

There seems to be a Victorinox selloff going on at Walmart in Canada too, I just got a huntsman for CDN $24 good deal!

best thing is victorinox will continue and survive quite well without walmart

walmart probably asked them to sell for below cost or without regard to the exchange rates-and the savvy swiss dont do this

Stevedenver, the scary part is, the average Wal-Mart shopper probably considered a $20 Vic to be too expensive of a knife.
