BA, just wanted to let you know your knife will be making it's first fishing trip tomorrow with my son & I on our annual traditional pilgrimage to seek the elusive & cunning Ohio largemouth bass. Heading out now to get the bass boat loaded and ready to go.
I also want to tell all of you "dads", "fathers", "grandads", "grandpas", "old man", "pops", "dudes" (for the younger generation), etc. to have a safe & happy Father's Day tomorrow. Enjoy your time with your children and family. Take it from one of your elders, the time with your kids is so fleeting, it will be gone before you realize it, and you can never, ever, get it back.
Can not wait to try this knife into some "real" wood tomorrow, only hope I can find the courage to "draw chips and dust" when the time comes for that first chop . . . . :D
Happy Father's Day to all.
Be safe.

MJ, we went last year in a pouring rain. Told #1 son to be sure and pack his rain suit again this year. No thunder or lighting, but wind was pretty rough, neither one of us got up on the casting decks, stayed down in the bow with the seats. Still caught about 19lbs., & a ton of great stories (note: "fibs") to tell the ladies when we got home . . . . :)
('course you know what they say about "fishing" stories . . . . .)
Have a great & enjoyable Father's Day as well buddy . .
Be safe.

your a damn mind reader!! I was thinking the same thing!

Hope all you guys had a great Father's Day yesterday, & this post is the result of losing a bet with my #1 son yesterday. As stated before, we went on our annual father-son Father's Day fishing pilgrimage. Got rained on 2-3 times, nothing major, BPS's rain suits are #1 in my book. We caught & released 27.8 lbs. of largemouth, 8 total (this is gonna kill me, posting this was my settlement), and my son caught 6 to my 2, and he was fishing from the back of the boat.
Now there are two ways to look at this:
1) He is a hell of a fisherman & really grasped everything I have taught him thru the years . ., or
2) I missed a lot of fish from the front and went blowing right on by them . . . :(
Either way, another great day with him which are now way too few and far in between it seems like. Lunch was on me as well, but I would buy every day if they were as great as this one was.
Hope all you guys had a fun & safe day and enjoyed your time with family & friends . . . .
Bet paid, we're even . . . . . . . :p
Be safe.

JUST1MOR, you are right, lunch is a small price to pay for a great day with your kids. Like you, I also would gladly pay it anytime.

IM, any amount would be worth it. He just turned 25 this year, he & his finance just bought their first house, planning a wedding for next fall, full time job, full time college student, I am surprised he has the amount of time he has. We have always been close, so anytime we can work a fishing trip or ball game or anything we do our best. All he kept saying yesterday was, "I bet you won't put this fish total on your forum, will ya' dad ??" To tell you the truth, the fishing really didn't matter, the time we spent was the most enjoyable.
But a bet is a bet, soooooo . . . . . . . ;)
Be safe.
