I am looking at getting a Greco Companion. First, does anyone have an opinion on the knife as a straigt utility piece? Second, what is the sheath like? I ahven't seen any pics. If someone could point me to a site wehre I could view pics of the sheath, that would be great.

Check out the Blade Art site. www.bladeart.com and check out the Greco products. I have got one from them and it IS a very strong and nicely made knife. The sheath is handmade leather with a strap across the handle area. The coating is greyish color and is very tough. It will make a great camp knife or a fefense knife and the price is very reasonable bring a from a custom maker. Micarta handle too!

How thick and tough is the leather? I found the knife at BladeArt.com but only saw sheaths for a couple of the knives. Also, how is the sheath attached to a belt? I am looking for a tough field knife, but a filed knife required a durable sheath as well, and right now I am facing the possiblity if buying a 40 dollar kydex sheath for a 50 dollar knife, which seems silly considering the knives in that range that come with kydex already. Does anyone make a kydex or even a good nylon sheath for this knife? I need to be able to get it wet without worrying.

The leather sheath is handmade and it is of thick leather. There is a loop type leather strap on the back of the sheath to allow you to run your belt thru. The knife is secure inside the sheath with a leather piece across the handle and snap down. This knife is extreamly sharp and durable, the original price is not cheap but for some unknown reason Bladart is selling them out at a very reasonable price. Call them and talk to Larry, he will take care of you.
