Why Just Own A Knife When You Can Own A Piece Of Art?​

My name is Richard Von Hagen Palmer, functional artist and the maker of Von Hagen Knives. I love to make knives and almost every knife I make is for sale. Each original, one of a kind Von Hagen Knife is handmade by me. For me, part of the thrill of being a functional artist is sketching out my ideas on paper and then watching them come to life by my hands and in front of my eyes. This AMERICAN TANTO STYLE KNIFE and is ground from of 5/32" thick 01 TOOL STEEL bar stock. The handle is Green Canvas Micarta with a Red Vulcanized Spacer. The handle is highlighted by two (2) 1/4" Mosaic Pins and one (1) 1/8" Mosaic Pin. The 1/4" Lanyard Tube is Brass and the Lanyard features a bead turned from the same micarta as the handle.

Each Von Hagen knife blade has been Rockwell Hardness Tested and has been tempered and bench tested to assure the perfect hardness -- not too hard as to chip but not too soft, to be sure to hold an edge. The FULL TAPERED TANG knife is 9 ½" long. The FLAT GRIND blade is well proportioned at 5".

The handle is securely held in place with six (6) anchors, at 3/8" each, that have been milled and keywayed. This, along with the epoxy that bonds tight and causes a fusion, will assure that the handle will not come loose or break apart with normal, everyday use.
