Hi,
I'm sort of new. But I have aquestion about grinders in Europe.
In US I already know what I would buy, but anybody know about good afordable grinders in Europe?
Thanks

get in touch with some makers over there and see what they use. also we have some that post here and in custom knives that live in denmark, germany, italy. just keep looking for their posts. good luck

There are lots of grinders around, but the only ones with 8 or 10 inch wheels I've seen were custom made. I've spoken to a few people about it here in DK, and there might be an article on building one in the danish magazine in near future, but unless you can do it yourself or know somebody who can, thats no help.
I went to a hardware store yesterday, and was surprised how many different grinders they had in their catalogs, but all of them with rather small wheels. If you can live with that, you can get all the grinder you can afford over here too.
Until I can get one build, I'll keep filing my blades - it is slow but you get there ( sooner or later ) :D

Fapa Acciai in Italy sells a custom made 10" two wheels grinder which works very well. It's relatively cheap, entirely built with screws and bolts, so that it can be further customized by the end user.
I'm new at using grinders (I always worked with files) but I could do a decent finish on a forged sword I bought with it without much effort.
You won't find it on the website, but you can order the catalog.
Anyway, maybe you want to get the grinder from a source nearer to your home: having such a heavy object sento to you can cost you a lot of money.

There are many super machines made in Europe!

The Wilton Square Wheel is made in Denmark by GRIT Multi Tools AS tel. +45 75 87 22 22, they can make you a machine with whatever contact wheel you want. GRIT has a full line of industry belt grinders.

Knuth imports a lot of the Harbor Freight type Taiwan machines: www.knuth.de

Löser makes great belt grinding machines for industry.

Flott in Germany offer full range of belt grinders...

try a search with google, there are several dealer and importers in Holland ... all you need is money. You can buy the same cheap POS machines here you get in the USA or you can lay down the money ca. EUR 800 for a Wilton type machine... mine has been running for years now.

I had no idea Wilton is made here :D
Funny that they don't advertise in the magazin. I'll give them a call and see what they've got.
Thanks Wilkins.

OK I just talked to them and their standartmodel GP50A is about 700 Euro/$.
They have dealers all over the world, so call them for one near you.
I plan on visiting the factory in a few weeks ( just got invited )so I can see it running. The nearest dealer is 20 miles away :)

Well Grit even sell that grinder with a VS motor. It is as good as the Wilton just the belts are 62" and not 72".
Also Wolf Borger sells a belt grinder here in Germany. I just ordered a KMG from Rob Frink.
