Gryphon M30A1 - A Good/Great Knife?

I've been eyeing the Gryphon from Cutlery Shoppe.
From searches, some have concerns over the handle material.

Aside from this, the shape of the handle and design of the blade look terrific.

The CQB from Camillus is OK, but I prefer the top guard of the Gryphon and the handle feels a little too smooth to me.

Any Gryphon users/former owners with experience to share?

I bought one about a year after it came out, so this was old production. The grind was excellent, and the sharpening job fantastic. The handle was a bit boxy but acceptable -- if I were really ambitious, I might round off the corners a bit. As a mid-size fighter, which is what I keep mine in reserve for, the balance is fantastic. I haven't used mine much, though I've carried it on me or with me a bunch.
