Gun Belts?

OK people. I have a Kydex tuckable IWB holster on order from www.fist-inc.com and now I think I need a belt. Please educate me; What sort of belt is ideal? Thicker? Wider? Thick but narrow? What?

Also, please provide links to manufacturers/retailers that carry the belts you recommend.

Thanks!

try the Galco dress belt, it's thicker but will fit most men's pant's . it has a insert to make it stiffer so the edge's don't roll and it's contured to fit the small of the back.I'am on my second one, plum wore out the first after 5 year's. Akabu :)

I have a Bianchi B-27 which I love. It is a very durable and relatively cheap belt. It is a 1 & 3/4 double thickness belt cut on a curve to prevent bunching in back as it curves around my hips. This belt provides a very stable platform to draw from and works very well in my blue jeans belt loops. This belt is too much for dress slacks though.

Things to look at:

1) is the belt cut straigh or on a curve to fit over the hips properly?
2) what size belt loops does your normal carry jeans/slacks have?
3) how stiff is it? Stiff enough to provide a good platform to draw from?
4) is it double thickness leather?
5) is it over priced? Bianchi makes good leather gear at reasonable prices. Custom holster makers and high end production companies make good leather gear to but, you are paying for a lot of name and advertisign campaigns - after all, belts aren't that hard to make or terribly unique - unlike holsters.

For inexpensive, serviceable gun belts you may want to check with:

I've had a couple that I've used on the job for years and they've held up very well. They don't scream gun, either.

If I recall correctly, the pix on the site weren't very good, but both my black and brown belts are good quality with quality buckles.

The Wilderness Instructor belts are nice but, certainly not low profile for a concealed carry situation. If attracting attention isn't a concern, this web gear is quality gear.

I've got a 1 3/4" 5-stitch myself that works very well but, it is also a high profile rig when conncected with my holster.

I have a Don Hume lined trouser belt. It's thick, 1.5" wide, and very stiff. Umm, that didn't come out right. Anyway, we're talking about a belt. I've had it for a couple months and it has already replaced all my other belts. It holds a gun like a champ.

Gotta agree with mtnbkr and go with the Don Hume, great stuff.

As for belt size, the width of the holsters belt slot will determine the belt size.
The belt must fit the holster slot snugly to provide proper concealment and weapon presentation.

The 1.5" 5-stitch Wilderness belts don't stand out as much as the 1.75" belts do, and are still plenty stiff to hold a gun properly (at least, it will hold my 2.5 lb P7, and I think most people opt for guns even lighter than that). With dress pants, it would look odd, but with work pants (jeans, Carhartt's, etc.), it doesn't seem out-of-place. The only question I've ever had was 'how does that buckle?'

Most of the custom holstermakers also offer belts, and I think that offers the best option (ie, get the belt from the same makers as your holster, if you have a custom), since the fit will be about the best possible.

The best I've used is the Ken Null horsehide, very low profile, nice solid bronze (or solid gold if you have the $) buckle. Another, with a typically long delivery, is the one Thad Rybka makes.

I have the lined version and love it. I haven't seen the one you're talking about, but being Done Hume, it should be good.
