Anyone know what their return policy is? I just want to know incase my knife comes with a defect or something.

Here is the link: http://www.cystern.com/khukuri/index.htm

I searched the site but to no avail. I also emailed them. I am impatient and would like to order my knife as soon as possible so I don't really want to wait (you guys surely know how that feels

As a customer of Mr Gottlieb, also someone who enjoys his cyber-persona, I think the answer here is: don't worry, Ghurka House don't ship junk. The stuff I have had from GH is of the finest quality. If you look through the posts and archives, you will realise that. I get the impression Craig's ideal is 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time.

Warthog,

David pertty much said it all but I'll expand on his answer a bit.

The GH Return policy is 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If your Khukuri has a defect or ever breaks, regardless of reason, you'll get either your money refunded or a replacement Khukuri. No small print, no hidden rules, no bulls**t.

Craig, the owner of GH, always goes the extra mile to satisfy his customer.

Hello, Warthog!

My name's Dan and I must admit that I've returned 2 khukuris, both to a dealer. There wasn't anything wrong with either of them. The first just didn't fit my hand the way I wanted. Even though it was gorgeous and I tried to talk myself into it, it has to be just so. Funny thing, somebody else (who REALLY knows knives) picked it up and found it extremely comfortable.

The second was a miniature (biltong), about 7" long. I don't know why I ever thought it would fit. Rightfully embarrassed, I took it back and bought a REAL khukuri. My fault, not the knife's.

I've also bought directly from Craig, but never returned any. He has the same no-problem philosophy as the dealer.

Craig posted on the forum that he will be at a show in CA this weekend. If you'll hang on until next week, I think you'll be glad you did. I really like dealing with him.

I'm picky, and the old quality suited me just fine. But the knives since spring have been almost unbelieveable! I'm waiting for 2 to come in next week. There are some close-up pics in the old postings. (the Cheetlang, for example)

It seems as though the universal opinion is that the SN1 or WW2 is the knife if you could only have one. The GH SN1 is the exact knife issued to the Gurkhas, and nobody knows more about them than those guys.

Make yourself at home and feel free to ask any and all questions. Craig gave me some advice that has helped me learn quickly: to go through the old postings. They answered ?'s that I hadn't thought up yet.

We'll talk later,

Dan

Hello Warthog!..... I have 8 khukuris bought from Mr. Gottlieb within the past 6 months and had an experience to return 1 khukuri. It was not because there was something wrong with the knife (it was a beautiful knife), blade's thickness was 1/16" thicker than I want it to be.

Craig's response to me "If you're not happy, I'm also not happy", and he made me happy by replacing the knife 'No question asked, no pain, no frills!'.

To me that is 100% customer satisfaction return policy! Have no fear Craig is a gentleman with honor attached to his word.

Awesome!

That's very reassuring to hear. I'll be ordering mine tomorrow!

Oh yeah...what are the "cheetlang" knives? Where could I see a pic and specs? Everyone talks about them all the time.

And thanks to everyone for the warm welcome

I'm also going to get the Ren. Wax with my knife and a wooden stand.

Does anyone know if it's possible for the dual knife wooden stand to hold my knife AND it's scabbard in the other knife slot? I'm not sure if the scabbard would fit.

Warthog,
The Cheetlang, AKA the Great One:

Read about it here.
A double stand should hold khukuri and scabbard just fine.
Enjoy your first khukuri - it won't be the last

"aka the Great One" - I laughed when I saw that...but then I read your review..."wow" to say the least.

No, this probably won't be the last one I get

Thanks for answering the questions whilst I was away in California. We had a great show. Wright Knife is our new retailer in the show circuit in California. You can still buy from us, but if you're at the show, look for Mr. Wright.
