Here`s a pic of my recently aquired Chinook. While I was happy with the way it came from Spyderco,I wanted to dress it up a bit by smoothing the G-10 scales and here is the result of my efforts.
I started by sanding the scales with 120 grit sandpaper to knock the roughness off the G-10.I then progressed to 320 grit to smooth them out. Finally I applied red jewlers rouge to a Scott fine buff pad and polished the scales.I applied a coat of automotive paste wax to get a bit of shine.
The knife is now much pocket friendlier with the smooth scales aiding removal and replacement. While the grippiness of the G-10 has been compromised I have been manipulating the knife quite a bit and have never felt like I was in danger of losing my grip on it.Overall,I`m happy with the way it turned out.My apologies for the crummy scan.
