I finally broke down and forged me an axe drift and went with a 14 inch handle to maximize the weight of the head for splitting,i love it and it's all mine,Have a goood weekend

Hey Buddy, I'll trade ya a sheath or so for that little chopper. ;-))) That is VERY NICE. I think you should trade with me though ;-)))

Best regards

Robin

I'm just finishing the sheath for that monster Bowie you made. Talk about a chopper. Ya don't need an ax if you have one of your monster Bowies.

Chopping wood,...Splitting wood,...ya, ya. ya. You know its lust laying there...saying STEVE...THROW ME!

Outstanding, glad you took time to make yourself something, and now ya probably gonna start makin'em for a lot of other folks too.

It's a dandy.

All ready tried throwin it balance is off with that stubby handle but it'll chunk up a 4 inch thick hunk of red oak in a heartbeat

Whole thing wiegh's 1 lb 14.4 ounces so i'll take a ballpark shot at 1 lb 8 oz on the head and 6.4 for the stubby handle,3 1/2 inch cutting edge

nice.

that's about the same as the little Mjolnir hand axes i've been making out of modified Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawks.

how big is the eye?

Hey Steve,
Nice log splitter. I'm loving the shark necker I got from you a couple of months ago, hope all is well at the forge.

PS, Vec, Steve is a great guy and if you have a lot of tech questions I humbly suggest PMing him, it's starting to get a little testy for no reaon.

Steve,

That is another awesome looking piece!!
I've missed seeing your posts with all of the nice looking hawks to tempt me.
Good to see you posting again.
I have gotten into throwing the hawks I got from you. I have found that buying spare handles is mandatory!
It is a ball. My brother in law and my sister are still better than me.:o
I gave them one and they get to practice more than me though. It is a fun thing to do while smoking meats, barbecuing and drinking beer on a warm spring day!;)
I look forward to seeing more of your work. Always looking to the next need! HeHe
