Hand made hawk and Curly Ash..

A wrap and weld made of 1065. Completely hand forged(one lick at a time with a hand hammer), hand filed and hand sanded with a block and paper. Forged and welded in a coal forge..Hand made/hand forged really means "Hand Made" with this one :D Been making a lot of hawks like this lately. No machinery, just hands on..The traditional/reenactor crowd mostly..Its kinda fun too, time consuming but fun..Curly Ash stained with Aqua Fortis. The pics dont do the ash justice, its beautiful up close..

You're right, photos do not do this functional work of art justice. Your work is first rate.
 
Personally, I'm glad I don't own one of dem dere hawks. I'd probably ruin it with drool rust.
 
Well done Kentucky. You have some nice file work, and looks like a stamp, etch, or engraving on the head...
