Well, its been a while since I posted. Forge has been up and running for a while, so I thought I would try my luck at "Hand Mashed" damascus. Here is the result:

(Sorry about the crappy photo, but I just couldn't get it together - use your imagination :D )

Hand Mashed and Forged to "rough" shape 56 Layer 1084 and 15n20
OAL: 10 1/2"
Blade Tip to Guard: 5 3/4"
Guard and Pin: 416 SS
Handle Material: Stabilized Redwood Burl

Thanks for Lookin'

Robert

Very pretty. I'm partial to the lower count damascus myself ...as it makes a nicer pattern IMHO.

I'm actually not a fan of the guard there. The shinyness and filework (or whatever you used to make the ridges) around the edge takes away from the elegant simplicity I've come to love in most of your other knives. Still a great piece though!

Give me a few months to get settled in and I think I'm going to by buying from you more than once :D

I love the damascus pattern, goes great w/ the knife, particularly the redwood.

Keep em comin!

Boy that there is finer than a new side har. The guard is excellent, I have been trying to think of a new style guard for one of my knives, but nothing was happening so I am gonna use your idea.

looks pretty perfect to me. i used to see a lot of beautiful redwood burl when i lived under them in boulder creek

Thanks for the comments gang.........This was my first attempt at making damascus, but surely won't be my last. I only hope my tired old arms will hold out.
