OK, got three new materials to try out here(I love Paxton wood),a nd looking to see if there's anything I need to know. Materials in question are Red Heart, Tulipwood and water buffal ohorn(no, that last one isn't from the wood place).

Thinking that khukuri's I mentioned in spacer question, at least one might get alternating red heart and water buffalo with the 416 or brass spacers(brass if I keep original bolster and buttcap, 416 if not). Then was going to use the TKS plastic spacer material for accents. red spacer between water buffalo and 416(or brass), and balck spacer in between red heart and 416(or brass). Figure those will give a nice accent, along lines of what Dan suggested.

But anything I need to know workign these materials? WHich of my hand saws would work best for cutting the buffalo(jeweler saw, hacksaw from 18-32tooth) or coping saw? I'm thinking the hacksaw at 32tooth, but not sure.

As always, thanks for your help.

etp777, I'd rig a small jig and cut it with the hacksaw or jewelry saw, to prevent chipping and to have square cuts. Or run a ring of masking tape around the area to be cut and even cut it with a small toothed bandsaw, ect. I have a Dremel table saw I picked up at a yardsale for $40, works good for stuff like antler, wood, and small pieces for handles. Keep your eyes open for one of those Dremel saws, well worth the $. Good luck on the knife, fella.

The buffelo I am used to is quite easy to work. I used a 1/2 in band saw fine teeth. I got it flat on the belt sander. Just don't get it too hot it can change colour when burnt. It smells quite bad too.
I was able to get a high polish on the buff after fine sanding.
