That is have enough knives? I got to thinking I was becoming only interested in knives I would use. Then I got to thinking I can't use but a few knives. Granted, I have some I'm still hot and bothered by but I feel my general interest in knives fading. I never would have thought I'd get bored!

Yes, take 2 asprins and sleep on the matter . Take a long walk and talk it over with the dogs, they always have good advice . DM

Oh yes* if we could just say "No" it would be nice ~~ but that is not the case for an addiction for knife nuts on a binge.
Just got another KB/Bkr~BK2 today and my total knife inventory just hit the 175 mark and it seems like a good place to stop (as I only EDC 3 or 4 of them) as the rest are Safe Queens and NIB's {mostly Spydies and KB/Bkr knives.! No more knives ~~ I QUIT BUYING AS OF TODAY*!!!! FINAL ANSWER......

somewhat yes, somewhat no. There are a couple knives that I would like to get still, but for the most part, I'm good with what I have.

Besides, finances currently have me stuck at what I have. So, I'm taking what I have, and modding it into what I really want...

When I start trying to figure out how and where to store them all so that they are out of the way but so that I can still see and fondle them, I think, that's enough!

That feeling usually lasts about an average of 12 hours (like maybe over night). Then I spot something I want and it's off and running again.

yep...early last year i reached that point; i got all the fixed and folders that i need and i have no interest in getting any more...and it's lessened my interest in coming to this site as much too...

same with flashlights; i got all the surefires i'll need for any situation...

and i just reached that point recently with .22 rimfires...5 old rifles refinished, 1 new pistol; done.

now i'm just using the tools i bought, as frequently and as hard as possible...

I find my interest in things waxes and wanes at times. I do seem to always come back to the same interest though. The one big interest that I have always had that does not seem to ever go totally away is rocks - Oh I forgot make that two - rocks and my wife.

I've been known to indulge on one hobby for awhile, then that interest drops off and I'll find a new interest, a new hobby. But I never totally lose interest, it just gets superseded by another one.

Uhm, let me know when you've "had enough". I may be able to find "storage space" for some of those... :D ;)

Yep... About a year, year and a half ago, I completely burned out on knives.

It wasn't that I didn't like them anymore, I just lost the passion. I think I was like you Flat, knives consumed me. As soon as I got up, I was searching for the next one. Then no sooner had I found and scored one, it was on to the next one...

At the time, I was collecting mostly older Case knives, and some Schrades.
One day when I went to take some out, and wipe them down, I found I just didn't enjoy having them locked up in a safe anymore.

So, I sold off a bunch, kept some that I really liked, and started carrying them.
I found I got more enjoyment out of having them in pocket, and being able to take them out and use them, than I did just hoarding them.

I did the same thing when I was collecting old Winchesters and Colts too.

There were two very big safes that were crammed full, plus guns in the drawers, in the closets, and under the beds. One day I started looking around and it hit me. I thought to myself, this is crazy... I did the same thing with the guns. Kept a few I really liked, and sold off the rest.

Funny thing is, there are only a few that I wish I still had.

It comes and goes with me also. I have a very small "accumulation" now. Still some I watch for but have slowed a bit. Think being stuck inside and facing another move makes buying more a bit less exciting right now.

Its almost like I typed this myself 338! Exactly how I feel. I still love my Bucks, but I would much rather use them than look at 'em :D I don't think that I will ever have "enough" Gordon, but I am more selective now, and really look hard for the next "good deal" I won't pay anything just to get the "next knife"
When I was working on building a nice display, I would pay alot of money, just to have the one knife I "needed" to finish the display. Those days are over ;)

Im stopping early, I only have a few and thats enough for now. I quickly realized how easily this hobby consumes people. I can only use one at a time, and thats what Ill do untill I use them sufficiently or break a couple then Ill replace them with new models AS NEEDED. If I bought knives as wanted, Id be homeless and alone by now and Im only a couple of months deep in this game.

As far as enough BUCK knifes, have not reached that point and do not know why. Must be different degrees of the BUCK knife habits, I use my BUCK 110 (on its 3rd blade), Odyssey (blade worn down to being too thick), DW 301 and my favorite old BUCK 118. Years ago I started storing new BUCK’s in 48 quart ice chests and continue to be drawn to them. At this time I feel the need for the LL B leather handled fixed blade and know when I get it will not use it, (why?). A friend of mine went to the SHOT show and was cruising tables and someone started talking to him, he talked for a while and then looked at this guys ID Badge and it was Chuck Buck. Friend came back to work amazed and could not believe that such a man could be so real on a working man’s level, even brought back a singed BUCK card addressed to me from Chuck. (My most important BUCK item now). Thanks BUCK for a healthy habit.
Bob.

VERY interesting thead, and I too have had similar feelings to those stated. While I always have interest in knives, I have found that my preferences have changed over time.

When I first started shopping on the internet and began going to knife shows, I purchased about every production knife I had lusted for over the years.

Then when interest changed to "custom" knives, there became very few production knives I wanted, and therefore buy very selectively.

More recently, I have found I don't need to continually purchase knives to get enjoyment from them. I still buy a few from time to time, but going to shows, participating in forums, and having some great coffee table books, such as those by David Darom, provide the enjoyment I seek.

Not yet but I can see how it would happen. I only have about 60 Bucks and there are plenty I want. I also have a goal to pick up one of every version, variation and date code of 110(standard wood handle that is, not custom or LE-although I certainly wont limit myself:D) That oughta keep my interest for a long while. Of course the problem becomes project funding. I'm running out of cheap ones to buy. 1st and 2nd gens are gonna cost me.:(

Being as I bought another last night, I haven't reached that point yet. I have thoughts of stopping and arraigning the ones I have.

LOL,Hi my name's Tom and I'm a Buckaholic. I can relate to getting burn out.Sort of like 338 I really had the bug with guns over the years and it got to the point of total burn out.I sold a bunch and kept just the ones I figured I'd use.A few I sold I kind of regret but no big deal.I got that way with hunting too.The last time I went Deer hunting,I had a 100% sure kill shot and never took it.I still had a good time being the thrill was in the hunt.Since I quit working my knife buying has slowed down and now I've lately just been doing the bay looking for lucky finds on old Bucks. The other day I almost ordered a piece of 5160 spring steel stock from a factory back East that makes it to try and forge my own version of the Hoodlum with changes I think would make it better, just for fun. Then it hit me there's more important things around the place I should be working on first.I get more enjoyment having the friends I made on the Buck forum than the knives.:DMaybe the Winter time Blues Gordon.:)
