Has anyone tried this machete

Just my opinion, but it seems way overpriced. You can buy good machetes all day long, for $20.00 or less. Some imported types are in the vicinity of $5.00.

Mike,

That machete is based on the old Victor Workman's Pal machetes of the 1930s. The original knives were good tools that were still issued to helicopter crews during Vietnam. I haven't played with the modern rendition but the complexed blade design, guard, leather handle, and sturdy sheath sounds like a reasonable package at ~$55.

not2sharp, I think he is refering to the machette under the Woodsman's Pal. The price seems high to me.

phantom4,

Thanks for the correction. It was the Woodsman's Pal, by the Victor Tool Company.

You are right about that! I have an Aitor and a Becker (among others) and love them both!!
The one you show looks very similar to most "cane knives". Usually they perform very well but many "clang" VERY loudly upon impact. The price does seem high for a knife of this size.

(If you are looking for one of the best clearing tools you might want to do a search on Gerber Bill Hooks. They are the best pure clearing tools I have used and possibly one of our European Knife Knuts could ship you one since they are not available in the states!)
