I am starting to see the error of my ways. I never gave much thought to my hatchet that i use for camping. I bought one of the camping hatchets that are solid metal head down to the handle. I have used it for many years to split kindling and drive tent stakes when needed.
I just recently founds bladeforums and enjoy it greatly. The more i have been reading the last few weeks the more i looked into my own gear. I was shocked. My hatchet was dull, chipped, notched and a piece of one of the leather washers from the handle was missing. I guess i never gave my hatchet a thought, it was pretty wrecked thru lack of care.
I have retired that hatchet now, i sent it to an early grave it didn't deserve. I ordered a GB wildlife hatchet and i promised to myself not to let it suffer the same fate due to hatchet ignorance.

P.S. The guys that post on this axe and tomahawk forum are cool so i thought i'd put something up here to let you know i read it.
