Hello all! Please click here and follow the link to the knife I made forumite samhell.

Not only do I want to show the knife off (I don't make too many, so I liek to show 'em off as much as possible!), but I want to talk about innovation. You see, I haven't got a lot of money, since I am a bit bast half way through my masters degree in philosophy. 6 years of university (1 to go) ain't cheap! So creativity, for me, is a necessity.

So a few weeks ago I found out that samhell was going to have a b-day in a few days. I wanted to give him a gift, 'cause he ahs been a great friend and generous with giving me some materials and such. The handle on my sister and new brothe rin alw's chef's knife that I made even came from him. But what could I do, with the little funds and time I have available? I spent an evening thinking and it all came together. I had this knife that was sup[posed to be the first ever magic knot knife (look at my avatar, or the cover knife in my imagestation account for the actual first ever MKK). But, I had to scrap it because I drilled soem holes way too close to the ricasso. Well, I took that blade and but a quick utility finish on it, and I decided to do a Japanese style of handle treatment on it. I knwo that samhell likes Rob Simonich's stuff (don't we all!), and I asked permission from Rob to use his grip technique. The grip material is g-10 that samhell actually gave me a while ago, and I wrapped the handle in $2 worth of shoe laces.

I hope that my story shows that you don't need big bucks, fancy machines or rare materials to make something special that cuts liek the dickens. All you need is some time to relax and let your mind go.

Hey, looks great Karl! Good to see what you can do when you put the thinking cap on the old noggin. :)
