I finished up this set last week, what do you all think? The damascus for both pieces including the guard, pommel and caps (there's a cap on each end of the hawk handle) is from the same billet. Damascus is 1080 & 15n20 billet in the center and sandwiched between 1095 & 15n20 billets.
Oal -fighter 13 1/4" w/ 8" blade , 4 1/4" dull clip.
Oal -hawk - handle is 18 1/2", blade to blade is 8 1/2" w/ 2 1/4" cutting edges.
The handles and wood sheath is all from the same board of curly maple, the sheath cap, frog and pins are N/S and the inlay is sterling silver.

Thanks,

Bill

This set just flat out rocks! I love the wood scabbard for the bowie and the silver wire inlay throughout. Stunning!

Cheers,

Roger

I think I'll take up soap carving. I'm not kidding, something moved in my soul when I saw those. Absolutley..... I dont have the words to describe how nice a set that is.

Beautiful work Bill. The inlay is a very nice touch on some great looking wood.

You know I have to almost agree with Gouge on this one. Wow.

LOL soap carving Mark? You start that on here and we all will want you to carve our handles :) to funny

Thanks again for the great compliments.

Gouge & feth, don't let anything I make, crush your dreams of being a knifemaker. Shoot, I still have dreams of being one myself. Anyone can do what I do. It just takes a lot of beating, banging and thumping on steel, not to mention the grinding. I've been real fortunate to have several on bladeforums to help me along the way, and I have several good personal friends that are knifemakers, that have taught me a great deal. I still have a great deal to learn, I honestly believe you could never learn all of it even if you did this for a 100 years. But patience and persistence is the key, and don't forget to have fun. Now go make something. ;)

Thanks

Bill
