it's been a strange, challenging month here at the humble Hawk Project.
the weather has been wet and freezing, and i lack a paint booth, so a lot of stuff went on hold. then the ECO Hawks had a hiccup and were sent as an incomplete order, and i got sicker than a dog for a few weeks with some strange bug that ran all over my respiratory track. one of those "just shoot me" things....
screw it - mercy is for the weak, or at least that's what Mom says....
the short story is;
i am feeling better and starting to turn and burn again.
TOPS Knives came though and got us all our stuff almost immediately, so if you have an ECO on order, or a backordered accessory, and you didn't get the word, it's heading right atchoo, ba-beee.
....and we had plenty of SoCal Sunshine today so i could coat!
do i hear an AMEN-NAH...?!!
here's a couple hawks that have a new Mil-Spec flat enamel coating on them.
super flat.
the coatings are color-matched to the micarta veneer on the Gen 1 Mk V handles underneath.
i could put an Epoxy Vapor Coat on top of them if the Investors want, but i think they are pretty hardcore the way they are.
we can always re-coat them later. the Epoxy Vapor Coat toughens the finish, but it is a little shiney - i usually spray matte acrylic on top, it knocks down the UV.
the brother who ordered this one wanted a tan and metallic motif, so i tried a hammered finish mixed with Coyote Brown. it is gorgeous to me. more importantly, it swings beautifully - i love the new Gen 1 Mk V endo-/exo-skeletal handles - they just feel like they are angry at some buddy - hehehehe...! that's a good sign in a hawk....
i also have been having fun making some Mjolnir Forager Axes.
no, that's not wood on the right - it's a composite finish we call Faux Cherrywood Heirloom, and like the others, it has the micro-pebble SnakeSkin finish that is easy on the bare hand, but has superior gip.
i am also making a short little Mjonir in Multicam - i thought it would be neat to try out as a Skinning Axe and Carpenters Hatchet.
It's begging to be thrown, I am wondering if this was the size of some throwing axes in the past.

keep praying for the humble Hawk Project.
more later, as i get back in gear.
thanks for looking, brethren.
