This is another project that's taken WAY too much time to finish!! (please check the Emerson forum for another one...Super Commander)These two projects actually interferred with each other several times!!

I'm making two of these hopefully to have Mr. Rosvall's artistry applied to them!! Now that he's been bitten by the knifemaking BUG, he's HARD to reach by Email!! OR he gave UP on me

I apologize for taking SO long!
The name Haybusa is Japanese but I didn't spend years studying their culture or was intrigued by fast birds of prey

I STOLE the name from the Suzuki motorcylce that bears the same name

If they feel the need to sue me, I'll deny this

As a BIG v-twin fan, my 4 hour ride on the FAST 1300 was beyond extreme, something that I'll NEVER forget!! After I calmed down and washed the smeared BUGS off the fairing, I decided that I would soon use the name for one of my knives. This Tanto model seemed like a good subject

Oh my gawd!! That is very possibly the sleekest, sexiest tanto design I've ever seen. And I feel very honored that I'm getting the opportunity to be part of this project. Man, this is going to be fun! Thanks, Neil.

Neil!

This is one good-looking knife...I have to stop looking at your knives - it's bad for my peace of mind...

AS for the Hayabusa - a real handful - But after I got the ZX-12 I never looked back - (pun intended)

It has almost the same amount of power, but the power-to-weight ratio is better, and it can also be upgraded for more power – like anyone can use that much power..

The ZX-12 handles like a real sport bike - hence - it's the fastest thing on wheels. period.

Does this count for knife content? Or should I add the ZX-12 cuts through the air and will slice and dice any motorcycle or exotic car on the planet???

That really is a beauty. Tell us more about it, such as what materials were used and the overall and blade size.

Thanks for the great picture.

Hey Doc!
They're gettin' bigger and bigger...
When do we see the bowie?
wink.gif

Thanks!!!

Gad,
After riding HD's, the Suzuki was a ROCKET. Not only would it SLAM my eyeballs into the back of my head, the thing would actually STOP hard enough to pop them back in place
smile.gif
Keeping the bike up in the power curve was SCARY!! I'm better of with big COMFY cruising bikes.

The knife above is made from 3/16" D2. The OAL is 10" with a 5" (sharpened length) blade. Unlike most of my knives, the tang is not tapered however it is drilled putting the balance point RIGHT at the finger notch. The handle is white paper micarta with white and black spacers. The finish is hand rubbed to 600. I'm making two of these, to be scrimshawed by Richard. I can't WAIT to see them finished
biggrin.gif
I'm thinking of sending them to Kenny Rowe for leather sheaths.
I did the notebook paper tube trick with this one several times......NO PROBLEM

EB,
I hate to say this but I've never really been into Bowie knives. I could see myself making a large fighter, sharpened clip point.... possibly a VERY non traditional Bowie??

Thanks Alex, I LIKE your description

Some knives scan very well some don't scan AT ALL. The Knife above falls into the later catagory

That's the second picture I put up and it still makes the knife look FUNKY!!! I'm sure that when the set is complete, there will be some VERY good photo's taken.
