Can anyone supply me with a list of HEAT TREATERS w/e-mail addresses?
I have used two in the past and they are fine, but perhaps others
will give faster service and better prices.

I turn out only a few knives a year, so buying an oven and a nitrogen
dewar might not be very cost effective. (still thinking about it)

I really hate waiting three weeks for my blades to return.

Yeah, I'd be interested in that info too.

A local heat treater recently quoted me close to two hundred dollars to HT seventeen 440c blades all under 12".
I can't help but think there must be a better rate somewhere else.

This is going to depend on whether you want air hardening (stainless steels) or oil hardening (carbon).
Paul Bos is the hands down favorite for air hardening and 50 others can chime in here also to tell you the same thing. He will heat and cryo 20 blades of the same steel for around 70 or 75 bucks. Any knives longer than 10", it's an extra 50 cents an inch or something like that. If you mix steels, there is another small surcharge. He'll do single blades but it's going to be 10 or 12 bucks, I can't recall exactly. He has an email address but he'll tell you to call him for any questions. He doesn't care much for email and doesn't check it all that often. You can find his number by doing a search for messages from him, he just posted his phone number in a recent message. In fact here it is,
from a recent message here by paul bos:
Please call me at home after 5:00 PM. PST @ (619)-445-4740 and I will answer your questions,

I can't help you with any oil hardening heat treaters.
