I just linked over to Ragweed Forge..and drooled at their selection of knives for about an hour, I saw atleast 12 knives that I have to buy, just to try....its awful. I am a huge fan of the Scandi grind, and its like a scandidemic over there...I would read the specs of one and decide, YUP!..thats the one for me...and then I would scroll down, and see another little bugger that I can't live without. Great website by the way over there at Rag Weeds..lots of cool stuff and links to old tools and pics. While I saw a bunch of stuuf that I wanted, the knives that stood out were the HELLE knives..they looked good and I like the different handle shapes that they had. Well, I just had a good time window shopping, and thought I'd share.....If you guys have any action pics..of puukos and leukos,..finn knives and swedish..that would spicen up this thread to??! I guess anything but Moras..I'm not denying them guys...I just see alot of them here and at home:D ( I bet I see a few now for sure!)

This is my Leuko in the pic, I have a puuko as well, and I had 2 clippers but I gave them to my Niece and Nephew, I still have and love my MORA 2K.

Helle knives were discussed in this recent thread, as well as this slightly older one.

I own a Fjelkniv and I really love it -- full tang, nice grip (long and wide, with a pronounced finger guard), great steel. The only gripe I have (and others have made this same point) is that the sheath is unlined. While I have a respect for slipjoints and natural handle materials, unlined sheaths for fixed blade knives is a bit too old school for me...

(I briefly owned a Nying and, like my Fjelkniv, the leather is primo quality, but was also unlined).

I have a Helle-Eggen and a Lappland, I bought them from Ragnar at a Penssic wars a few years back.

These knives are really nice, and stay sharp for a long time, they also reshrpen pretty easily, I Have to resheathe the LappLand, the one that came with it is an odd design but nice leather. I am not crazy about the handle either since it is large very smooth and has no guard it seems easy to slip though I have never had this happen yet.

The hell Eggen is a great little camp knife, I bought it for hunting but really havent been hunting since I got it. it does a hell of a job cutting up meat though.

I really love those kellam knives. Their Striker model has been next on my wish list for a while now. The birch handles are really pretty.

I have been flirting with the idea of getting a Helle Odel or fjelkniven because the are so attractive as well as functional looking. I wish they came in carbon though.

Those were my thoughts, too. Carbon steel rather than stainless was one of the main attractions to the Kellam blades.

i've used the Nying, Fjellman and Viking for years. love them.

only gripe i've ever had is that, in some situations, it takes two hands to get them out of the sheath.

i was at Ragnar's booth last week and it's like a kid in a candy store.

I just did some testing on my Leuko. An elderly couple had a huge branch fall of thier tree, and in the heat down here, I couldn't let them handle it..they are in the late 80's. Anyway, I saw an opertunity to do some real chopping, my 7" Leuko chopped as good or better than many of my "Better" choppers. It was like a machete on steroids...I had listed it for trade a while back and had a change of heart...boy am I glad I did...it is a tough, sharp cutting tool, that I would bet my ass on anytime...and for $80..its a steal. Semi- Handmade, and really good to look at.

PICS???? come on guys...these are some pretty knives.

I have only recently discovered the Ragweed Forge website. I too am very interested in the Helle knives. The anniversity knife which was originally produced in 1965, really looks great. I called yesterday but they are closed on the weekend. I will buy this knife this week. It is $80. This knife is featured in the current Tactical Knife magazine. The Norwegian answer to the Finnish Tapio Wirkkala puuko, designed in the early sixties.

I have a Nying, great little knife. I'll get a pic up of it later.
