Hey everyone, I just ordered my first jk (new hiker) and can't wait to get it. Does anyone have a picture of their favorite jk they would like to post? Thanks

Well, welcome to the family. You're going to love your knife, I'm sure! I don't have one of these but, I have a couple others that JK has made for me and I love all of them.

Thanks Guy's. Rocky wolf- I seen the knife you designed very nice Frontier Tom- do you mean you have some that he has custom made for you that aren't stock models? I've heard that he will make your design. Does he do that often or only for certain people? Thanks

John makes many one-off knives for customers. If you have anything in mind, talk to John and he'll help you out.

Hi quick kill -

I have several JK's, and it is tough to pick a favorite -

Here is a pic of the Riverwoods Companion that I had made for my wife to use in the kitchen:

My first JK---a Kephart. Great all around knife. I have used it in the kitchen, landscaping, demolishing a basement room for a customer, prying, planting, carving, battoning, you name it. Tough little devil. Get one and you won't regret it.

Thanks Guy's grate looking knives. I really like that Bowie and combat survival knife the handles on those two look perfect.

Hi quick kill -

I have to admit - when I go out and want to take a fixed blade with me, I take the Combat/Survival with me - it came in a kit with a sheath that also hold a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) Farmer model.

The sheath pictured with the Bowie was made by Noah of Wasteland Leatherwork - who collaborates with Stomper and can do more customized sheaths if you prefer.

I asked for the extra length of tang on the C/S so it can be used as a prying tool. I also asked for the clip-point, which was another custom mod to that blade.

That is part of the beauty of dealing with Stomper - he really cares that you get what you want, and he will make your design, his design, or a combination.

The first knife I pictured - The Riverwoods Companion (RWC), was designed by member jds1. That knife is a really sweet little blade, and my wife keeps that one out on the counter in it' sheath.

I got the JK bug about a year ago, and I have several more that are on my wish list.

Here is a link to my JK knife picture albums where you can view a slide show of each knife I own or have reviewed.

Thanks for all the info Mqqn I appreciate it. That's why I gravitated towards jk. You can tell he really cares about what the customer wants, in essence a TRU CUSTOM KNIFE MAKER, not a small scale high quality PRODUCTION KNIFE MAKER. Witch is how I view a lot of the other makers. And that's not a knock against any of the other maker's nor does it diminish their skill as craftsman just my opinion. Another thing is he is a real nice Guy that has put up with me asking him a bunch of questions and replies in an extremely short amount of time, witch for me is extremely important and makes you feel like a valued customer. I'm definitely going to be doing business with him in the future . And my wife just picked out a knife so I will be adding another knife to the list. Thanks jk

Yeah quick kill, John is a great knife maker! I may buy other knives but they are mostly for collection purposes. When it comes down to having a functional knife with me or being in a survival mode, I'll pick the JK every time! I only have two JK's at the moment. My first one was my Kephart with the tulipwood handle. I had John make two of these, they were both Christmas presents, one for me and one for my best friend. My second one is the JK LOBO that I just picked up at the last "Gathering". I have an order in with John now for a hatchet and Nessmuk set with a delivery date some time in January. Here's a few photos of my two!

Both of these are big pieces of steel!

You don't have to worry about hurting them!

Thanks for the pix. Lol yeah you got them buried in that piece of wood don't you. There are about five knives I'm contemplating right now two confirmed, hopefully the other three will find their way into my order.

Hi quick kill, and welcome to the club.

You asked for shots of our favourite JKs - here's mine. It's one that John made based on my design, and it has a combination edge with a scandi portion near the handle for woodworking. I call it the ACEK. It's far and away my favourite woods blade.

All the best,

Welcome quick kill, you'll like it here. If we keep bragging on John here, we'll make his head swell.

John is great to deal with. As you've seen he is quick to reply to questions. I sometimes wonder how he gets things done because anytime I send an email I get a reply back really quick- sometimes immediately.

My first JK was a Kephart off the exchange. Working on a natural patina now.

Next one my wife surprised me for my birthday. John finished it on short notice I believe.
Pack Knife- I carried it in place of a folder in my pocket for a couple months.

John does like doing customer designs, and encourages them. I keep asking questions about various models and he said why don't you design your own. So I did, it took a few drawings but I finally came up with one I liked.

And now I'm trying to decide on which one I want next.

Welcome Quick Kill! You've probably noticed that all of us have really enjoyed both the knives that John creates along with the pleasure that is making his acquaintance and dealing with him, as I am sure you will as well.

It is hard to pick a favorite JK for me as well but here are a couple..

I am sure you will enjoy yourself on this subforum as well, everyone who posts here is really friendly!

Mentor I seen that knife in another thread and had been wondering who made it, very cool design it looks like a nessmuk and a bushcrafter did the nasty lol. It looks like the kephart is a favorite design. I really like the idea of having my own design made by john I've been drawing for a couple day's now lol, the only down side is it can't be over eight inches, not a big deal for most designs but I really want a custom golok. The bark river looks nice but eleven inches really?? Seems kinda on the small side to me but I'm no expert. I do have a modified version of his Bowie I'm going to run by him and hopefully we can work something out.

The total length I can HT is 13"
