I am about to grind my first knife. Can anyone tell me the difference between flat and saber ground? I am going to make a small hunter/utilitie style blade approx 4" blade length. thanks in advance.

Hi Scott,

A "Flat ground" blade is typically ground uniformly
from the blade spine right to the cutting edge, like a V.

Where as,in a "Saber or sabre ground" blade, the grind will typically start at about half of the width (or half way down from the spine) of the blade.

Regards,
Greg
