Hello all,

My first post here and I need some help. I'm hoping someone here can identify this Gerber fixed blade. I bought it a couple of years back, but cannot remember model it is.

My brother loves it and I'd like to purchase one for him, but I cannot find it on Gerber's website in a visual search.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Stevedrk,

I am pretty sure the knife in question is one of the presentation series that Gerber made. There were five knives in the series. They came with ebony or synthetic scales. The knife you have is model number 400. It is the only one with a drop point blade. I think the knives were made in the 80's and early 90's. The brochure that I have on these states that the blade steel is 440C. I purchased a new old stock model 400 w/ebony scales 15 years ago for about $96 plus tax. It is one of the best finished knives that I own. Your best bet on finding another is probably ebay, gun/knife shows or a small out of the way hunting/fishing sporting goods store that has a slow turnover better quality knives. Good luck with the hunt.

chemist, thank you very much. Now that you mention it the 400 model presentation is what it was called. The odd thing is I bought this about two or maybe three years ago from a Dick's Sporting Goods... :)

Well, I'm off to search eBay and such.

Thanks again,
Steve
