Ok, so today my buddy and I went out into the woods for a hike/boredom killing afternoon. Along the way he mentioned how he really wanted to get a new fixed blade besides for the buck that he had. I told him that John built great knives and his prices are more than fair. I showed him mine and he asked me if he could do some cutting/chopping with it. After putting it through his "tests" he asked me if i have ever damaged the knife, knowing i'm pretty abusive on things when i know they can take it. In the beginning when i bought the knife, i wanted to baby it as to not hurt it, but now i realize it's almost impossible! I almost have him convinced, and he does visit these forums, so to everybody, what have you done with your JK to damage it, and what do you do with your JK that you can't do with some other knives? How often do you sharpen, just comment on the overall quality of it.

The only way I hurt my JKs is by not using them enough! Great knives at a great price. Plus John will make customer-designed knives.

John, do you still have the infamous jwilliams bullet + hood test thread bookmarked? That would be a good one to post.

As for me, I haven't managed to damage my JK knives. Which is saying something. I have used them in the rain, snow, and muck, to chop, baton, cut, shave, etc. They have stood up to everything, and I consider them to be my most durable knives. The heat treats have been excellent, and I rarely *need* to sharpen them. A strop after an outing usually does it.

Conclusion: These are great looking knives, but they are really built to work. I can't think of any wilderness & survival activities that I would consider to be beyond the capabilities of my JKs.

Eye Candy:

True that. As much as I like my CRKs when I know its time to really do some rough shit, the JK is what I choose.
