I picked up this Imperial slipjoint knife a while back from who knows where, and don't know hardly a thing about it. Anyone fill me in?

Celluloid handles it looks like. The secondary almost looks like a modified wharny. What's the length, 3 7/8"? Not really a fishing knife, but a trapper?

does it have solid bolsters or are they the shell type?(should see tab thingys if ya look at the knife from the top)
My few imperials have the shell type as do the colonials that i have.
cool knife, i'd call it a 2 blade jackknife!

It has the shell bolsters. Can anyone tell about how old it may be. Who is Imperial anyways?

Who is Imperial ?

look at the Schrade collectors' forum, for a start.

There is lots of history attached to the Imperial brand.......

Overall length would be helpful in getting some more information. From the looks of it, it's just a two-bladed jack knife with yellow celluloid handles and what appears to be a modified wharncliffe.

Imperials do not fetch a high dollar in the knife collecting world. They hold alot of nostalgic sentimental value. I have a small crescent moon scar where I shoved the blade of a large toothpick knife about 1/2" straight into my arm. I was 11 yrs. old, and cutting cardboard with the blade dull as a butter knife towards me. The blade slipped off the cardboard, and I plunged it into my forearm. I kept myself from fainting, because I was afraid my dad would beat the tar out of me if I was caught with it. I quickly grabbed my arm and compressed the wound with my palm and headed for the bathroom to bandage up my arm. I spent alot of time cleaning up the blood. I traded for that knife with a weeks worth of lunch money! I never asked for permission, and kept it hidden from my parents. I got my first official dad sponsored knife when I was 13, it was a SAK. I am sure others have Imperial stories. I do not collect them, but when I see one I still smile on my bravado, and how I dodged a dad's discipline session bullet. I wish I had that big yellow handled toothpick still.

Cool info guys! Thanks. I love the little guy, even if it's not worth much. I'm definately holding on to it. Plus, it's purty...
